Audis are conventionally more heavy due to the AWD transmission though so I would say that the S4 is more of a competition for the 335i than the M3. The 4.2 in the current S4 is only rated at 340HP.  I assure you the Super6 will not disappoint.  Have you ever driven a Mercedes C32 AMG?  Same setup.  3.2L Supercharged 6 making 349hp.<br><br>Speaking of Mercedes...  I think it's funny that Audi and Merc are going in opposite directions.  Merc towards big engines (From the 3.2L Supercharged 6, to the 5.4L V8, to the 6.2L V8) while Audi is now downsizing and going back to forced induction and BMW talking of doing the same. In other words, an 8ms DSG shift means the driveline is unpowered by the engine for 8ms, as a result of clutch 1 disengaging and clutch 2 engaging simultaneously (relatively).  <br><br>The F1 times can't be used as a defense because they use an entirely different transmission, the automated manual, and also cannot by rule have continuous power delivery.<br><br>The wikipedia article also cited two sources, so it's not like it's made up out of thin air.  Where those sources got their information is another story, but you can follow that path forever.
