Car Porn: Supercarmovies.com honors the Corvette Z06

Click above for high-res gallery of the Corvette Z06 in Europe
How do you follow up filming the ultra rare Lamborghini LP 640 and Wiesmann GT? If you're Supercarmovies.com, you pay homage to the best supercar value this side of the Atlantic: the Corvette Z06. Our pals over at Supercarmovies.com continue to amaze (and embarrass) us by making auto-centric cinematic masterpieces with production values that put everything else on the internet to shame. What we're trying to say is that these aren't your brother's YouTube vids.
Available to view in standard def or High Definition, the newest video lacks a plot like the memorable LP 640 film, but stars the Z06 tackling twisty roads somewhere in Europe. With that raucous V8 bouncing off the Old World's topography like a little kid in a library, you half expect the American icon to punt a MINI Cooper right off the mountain. But this is a movie, and the Z06 has no other traffic with which to contend, so it accelerates and brakes at leisure just like any American would on vacation. Click the gallery below courtesy of Supercarmovies.com for some excellent eye candy and hit the Source link to view the film itself.

Incredible video... say what you want about Corvettes, but that is one sexy beast right there. I think I want one. (shhhhhhhhh... don't tell the GT-R). ;)

Wow. Hell must have froze over.
Franz found something nice to say about the Z06.
Franz 1:18PM (5/29/2008)
Don't start making stuff up man. I never, EVER talk smack about Corvettes. I just prefer the GT-R, that's all.
Dolemite 8:48PM (5/29/2008)
Sigh.
If the "hell froze over" part did not give it away, I might as well come out and say it: it was a joke.
In any case, if you do want to get literal, I do spend a lot of time lurking on Autoblog and this is first instance where I have seen you compliment the Z06. Maybe there were others, but I do not recall them.
Lastly, of course you have a right to prefer the GT-R, I never said you didn't.
I think this could have been avoided had I just included a " :P " to my original post.
Franz 10:26PM (5/29/2008)
You probably weren't lurking yesterday... I complimented Corvettes... in a GT-R thread no less, when other people were bashing Chevy for not sending one out to play. I say nice things about Corvettes all the time actually. Sure, the pic in my avatar is a GT-R, but I don't mindlessly bash ANY car here on Autoblog.
So sorry if I missed your sarcasm... and it really isn't a big deal. I just thought I'd clear it up.

The original poor mans supercar. Looks uninspired and cheap but it has a beast of an engine which provides amazing performance. The interiors were always cheap and hideous but still acceptable for the price you pay for such performance. This car was never built for class or luxury, just power.
However when it comes to the Corvette community they are really a divided bunch. You have the respectable corvette drivers who appreciate and respect other cars and don't have the typical more power equals better car mentality. Then you have the rednecks, over patriotic Americans who hold on to the Vette likes its the second coming because it's one of the few, if not the only performance cars we can hold to other cars from the Europeans. For them it's more like a flag.. They go around saying "My American car is faster and automatically than any other car form any other country!" The sheer brashness and "American ignorance" is embodied by corvette fanboys. It's quite funny.

John, when I think of American retards, I think of people like you.

I laughed out loud when I read John's post because he no doubt thinks it sounds enlightened and insightful. He's right to a certain extent, but he is the very thing he decries, except that he is the European fanboy.
Chris 2:01PM (5/29/2008)
Yea John....you really are a stupid man. Saying that car looks uninspiring and has no class tells us all we need to know about you.
Poor man's supercar??? Please analyze that statement....you write it like its a bad thing.
Boasting about the Z06 the way you describe above is justified...because less than a handful of cars perform better than it. I don't recall any Vette fans proclaiming that the 1982 Vette was a world beater.
When it comes to the Z06 though, the so called Vette fanboys can get right in your face and talk all the smack they want about it and you have no option other than to agree with them.
You forgot to mention one more type of Vette fanboy.....and that is the one who lives in your head and drive you nuts. Cudos to that type! When the ZR-1 hits the street, it won't be your head they live in either.
John 2:53PM (5/29/2008)
LOL. I hit a nerve huh? The vette fanboys have come out the woodworks. I see Dolemite represents the typical Vette fanboy who uses laughable insults in the place of a proper argument.
As for Chris, you basically admitted your a fanboy yourself. I mean you actually defend the immature and vile Vette fanboyism.
Michael well first off I'm not an European fanboy. I like a lot of American cars, but let's be honest here. In comparison to the majority of European performance/luxury cars the Vette is downright UGLY and cheap looking.
The car's handling is decent but nothing to write home about. Anyways if any of you are vette owners I apologize for coming down on your car. It is a great performer and I never once said it wasn't. My post was directed at the idiotic vette fanboys.
Michael Hall 4:39PM (5/29/2008)
Oh, we're being "honest here." Whew!
You said that, "In comparison to the majority of European performance/luxury cars the Vette is downright UGLY and cheap looking." Well, that's your opinion, and everyone has their opinion. You made a valid point about Vette fanboys, but in my opinion, you're the reverse. You think the Z06 is "ugly" and "cheap looking," but others disagree, and yes, it's a matter of opinion. More to the point, the silly "let's be honest here" is a cheap rhetorical trick. You know it, I know it, and probably most people here know it.
Dolemite 1:05PM (5/29/2008)
Oh my goodness. These guys are good.
I have not had time to check out the video, but the photos are absolutely stunning.

Yeah, it's amazing what Photoshop can do to your photos.
Could have at least taken that pimple of a front plate off for ALL the photos.
Dolemite 1:14PM (5/29/2008)
Well, most professional photos go through some editing process. In any case, you don't need photoshop to make this car look good.

Neff, your praise of Supercarmovies.com is well-deserved as their cinematography is outstanding - dramatic and well-paced. Even the accompanying score is well-suited to the visuals and doesn't detract from the Z06 intake/exhaust sounds in the film.
I can't help but wonder if only there had been a few major explosions and possibly a car chase if this would have come off as a Jerry Bruckheimer production?

I love the polarized lens look of the video. It intensifies the colors and adds a bit of mystery to the subject.
My favorite part is towards the beginning with the rain water beading up on the car and a couple of droplets running down the side. Also, great attention to depth of field and lighting.
Nicely done!
