A few months ago we advised taking our
post about Mattel leaking major Ferrari news with a big grain of salt. But as that famous toy maker has been known to do in the past (remember the
1969 Corvette?), Mattel was indeed working on a 1:18th scale model of a new, small Ferrari. As we know, however, it won't be called Dino.
A Mattel insider and Autoblog fan has tipped us off that a 1:18 scale Hot Wheels
Ferrari California will be available in "late 2008." With the official unveiling of the Ferrari California supposedly planned for the
Paris Motor Show in October, we might be able to take one for a, uh, small test drive before the car is even unveiled.

Ferrari is messing up with all these models that look the same, trust me when I say this is going to go down in history as Ferraris ugly years. 612 599 149/dino/cali. And they arent even that relevent I don't think that the 599 has "IT" Lambos are more compelling. Imho.

I need to find the rosso corsa 288 GTO Mattel model that I passed up years ago, and haven't seen since, first...
Then maybe a 575M, and an F430 and 430 Scuderia pair to go with my 360 and 360CS pair.
Then maybe this.
I want a V8 Vantage coupe, and a Vantage RS V12 model pair, too, though...
And not all of those are the standard $16-20 each, either.

I need to make room for one of these!

I don't even know where to begin listing the errors on that 1969 Corvette page.
Most importantly, the major redesign was in 1968; it was not delayed to 1969.
Therefore nobody was surprised by the 1969 model, unless they found changes to things like taillights, door panels, and switchgear shocking. For a very good (rather than entirely BSed) overview of the '69, see http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1969-corvette.htm.
The Mattel leak happened before the launch of the redesigned 1968 model.

mattel/hot wheels makes really crappy models, Ferrari should give its offical licence to someone else.......such as kyosho or auto art......
