Spy Shots: Production Audi TT Clubsport Quattro

When Audi debuted the TT Clubsport Quattro Concept at the Wörthersee 2007 enthusiast meet last May, it was officially a design study. Apparently some folks at Audi determined that the concept was worth studying further, as spy photographers have captured what appears to be a production version based on the current TT. While most of the styling cues have been toned down to fit the current-gen TT, the speedster treatment remains the same with a short, pillarless, wrap-around windshield, high roll bars behind the seats and serious fender flares at all four corners. Other changes include larger side mirrors, an additional brake light out back and the use of actual door handles where the concept only showed bare sheetmetal. That concept was powered by a 300-horsepower TFSI four-cylinder, though we don't know what powerplant resides under this TT's hood. Judging by the racing-style seats and large, many-spoked wheels, however, we suspect that it's pretty potent.

A production car with no windshield header? I dont see this as being very likely. Maybe another rendering of the concept but I doubt this is the production model.

The Callaway C16 Speedster doesn't have a windshield header. That's a production vehicle.

I can see Cory Haim jumping in it and speeding off with a hot blonde...
Total chick car...

Jeez, there's more then one of new or currently unannounced cars in that picture. That red GTI has different wheels then one's you can buy now, but they look OEM. I also see a new S4.

A chick car? You've gotta be kidding me. That hunkered down stance with the flares and rollbars looks all business to me. I think it looks great.

A "ClubSport Convertible" is a bit of an oxymoron given that most clubs have such strict rules against convertibles on the race track. Seems more like a "Speedster" rather than a "ClubSport" to me.

as allergic as I am to the very concept of the TT I must admit this one is pretty.

Some (sexually threatened) guys think all convertibles are for girls...I'd drive over them with my Aston drophead coupe (if I had one).
How about this: Hummers are for chicks (I mainly see housewives drive them, anyway)

I chuckled at the irony.

The Clubsport has oval exhaust pipes, and they're an RS styling cue. So my guess would be that it's running the TT-RS's rumoured 5 cylinder lump.

oval exhaust tips = Audi TT RS, or whatever they end up naming it--given Porsche's lust with the RS nameplate.

I think it looks a bit bulky...

Who wants to buy a TT with no roof? Seems like there is just about no one who would actually want to buy this.
