Pit Bull mod adds underhood snarl to F-150

Dogs are common sights in the cabs of pickup trucks. Sometimes you'll see one riding back in the bed. But underhood? Not so common, but that's exactly what Walter Witthoef found in the engine bay of his F-150. There, head poking up behind the motor, was a growling but otherwise healthy pit bull. Somehow, the dog wound up stuck inside the engine compartment, where it whiled away the time by using the fuel lines, distributor wires, some hoses, and pretty much everything else within reach as chew toys. After her discovery, Animal Services arrived on scene and freed the pooch, who was reunited with her people the next day. Hopefully they'll be willing to pick up the $1,000 tab for the additional damage she allegedly caused to Mr. Witthoef's ride. Bad dog! No biscuits!
Thanks for the tip, Ben.[Sources:

That's what happens when you use engine heat to cook food.

Pit bull owners trip me out. Look at the very end of the video were the owners turn around and smack the dog in the back seat.

I can't help but question the mental stability of pit owners.

It's not very nice to make comments about people you don't know. I know people who rescue pit bulls that are abandon. They are doctors, lawyers, accountants, and police officers to name a few. I don't know you and I will not question your mental stability.

Cats do this all the time unfortunately, It's because it's warm in the car. I've never heard of a dog getting in. I still don't see how she managed to fit herself in there.

I believe Turbo would be a good name for this dog.

"People that say, "dogs is stupid" is stupid. Giggle."
You mean "People that say 'dogs is stupid' ARE stupid, not "IS" stupid.

It was intentional, bozo.

It looks like an improperly installed security system. He probably has an exhaust manifold in the front seat.

Every spring I need to remove the air cleaner from my truck and clear out the nesting chimpmunks. I know they must be in there when I am driving but it doesn't seem to bother them

Stupid headline !!! Dog was not IN the engine !!!
Mary @ May 11th 2008 12:33PM
When I first saw this on the news, I thought, "Bet the dog was chasing a cat." Everytime I go to my car I beep the security system - to chase out the cats that sleep on top of the engine.
And - to say the dog used the wiring, etc, as chew toys shows that you underestimate the intelligence of animals. The dog was most likely trying to chew his way out. STUPID HUMAN!
