Don't you know that plastic saves weight and cost more money?
Look at the current bicycles.
Back in the good old days they were made of steel, and served for decades. Now they are all plastic and cost thousands of dollars.

I agree that plastic has replaced other materials in many products, but you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to bicycles. Steel, aluminum, carbon composites, and titanium are used for the vast majority of bicycle frames.
