Oh dear! so if gas goes up to $5-$8 a gallon like in Europe....
Sometimes I wonder if Detroit has any common sense.

I think it's brilliant, everyone complains Chrysler doesn't listen, so now they did (u all complained about high gas prices and their thirsty cars) and yet everyone still criticizes for them attempting to remedy a problem. Seeing as how they cant overhaul the whole lineup overnight, this is the next best thing until they can bring out more fuel efficient vehicles. Go hop in ur priuses and drive off a cliff, please, u whining little bit.... =)

I use public transportation. :) It would take 4x as long to drive to work. For the weekends I have a economical BMW e90.

All these plans and "gimmicks" are only as good as long as the company actually stays in business and doesn't go OOB. $2.99 for 3 years, life time warranty, all are great ideas, but how much is Chrysler making on each car that they offer these things and can actually sustain anything through the life of the car. I know, that if I buy a Chrysler, I will have the piece of mind of lifetime on powertrain, but I KNOW FOR SURE, that I will pay a trip to the dealer at around 90K to get either the engine or transmission done and I'll lose a week here and there on repairs. If they go under in five years, then I'm stuck with a very big paper weight.

Wow, do you actually think that Crysler is taking that risk themselves? They've structured a deal with an investment bank that gives them a set price of gas in the future and crysler pays for the spread and risk taken by the ibank.
In otherwords, Cryslter set up a deal where they pay the diff between say $5 a gallon and the $2.99
