And that's even before I count cars I don't like the looks of (of which the Veyron is one). Then I can count the Ferrari Enzo and FXX and various Pagani Zondas.

The Veryron is impressive if you're impressed by high HP sleds just because of their HP. But hey, if I worshiped HP alone, I'd be a fan of the NHRA.

A Koeniggseg, SSc Aero etc, is not. Those are just carbon fibre shells with powerfull engines in it.

That's because they were designed in the wind tunnel and they helped make the car cut through the air easier. The Veyron was just designed which is why it's drag coefficient is so horrible. So they had to devise ways where the car would lower itself, cut off vents, have spoilers that adjusted itself, and other things in order to let it generate downforce and/or make it more aerodynamic.

Even after all that you have to consider that the Veyron is a 4000 pound car. So they made a car that is fat and unaerodynamic outperform anything else. That is why the Veyron is so impressive. It's not simply putting a big engine in a light car.
