Click the image above for a photo gallery of the Bugatti Sang Noir

A darker, evil-er Bugatti Veyron has been born to run alongside the Pur Sang: the Sang Noir. Word is the newest variant has been created to be a tip of the hat -- that would be "chapeau!" in French -- to the Bugatti Atlantique 57S. It gets a slightly different front grille with matching side mirrors, black headlight surrounds, exclusive wheels, and an interior dressed in what looks like electric orange. All in all, the car appears to share nothing with the Atlantique other than the name Bugatti and choice of exterior color. But it's not like that would keep you from buying it, would it?

By the way, that old school car in the gallery is cool
        • 6 Years Ago
@Josef and you will never own one so whats the point.
@russel, why do you assume that people will never own a Veyron?
I'm not saying I ever will, since it's insane car overkill, but someone who makes a high end salary could probably buy one if they saved up for like 5 years.

I think those who are familiar with the car appreciate the intricate details given to the car. It is really a fantastic car. One thing I consistently read in every single review of the car, is the fact that it feels extremely stable at 252mph. There is no sensation likes you're about to lose the hood or some part of the front fascia.

I think any highly educated engineer understands how much effort was put into this. Steering wheel at 252mph, brakes and their longevity, 10yr gearbox, downforce, interior design. Best part when you arrive at a party with this car, lady will get out of it looking proper.

And there isn't that many of them, what's the run? 400? All over the world? That's nothing.

Point of this car is to show what can be done without taking into account cost feasibility.

That feeling of the car falling apart kind of is fun. Adrenaline rush and what not. I suppose it is something to respect, but I would find it much more respectable if the interior of the car was more so a cockpit rather than your living room.

That's just my opinion though, I'd prefer a hunk of junk that is fast around a track over a small limousine.

Out of curiosity, is the Veyron even capable of turning? I've heard about speed, hp, and money. That's great, but does the steering wheel do anything besides give you a massage or give you your horoscope for the day?

It corners pretty well I understand. On the order of a GT car basically.

I've had a spirited ride in a Bentley Continental GT, and despite it weighing significantly more than this vehicle does, it goes, stops and turns well. But it's really because of a very wide track and great grip, that gives great cornering forces, but doesn't really make the car nimble.

Alright I suppose the Veyron is fast. My problem's solved.

Clarkson said it handled like an Elise.

Tiff Needle was very impressed by the handling.

Evo magazine said the Enzo and Pagani ZOnda F they took with on a road trip couldn't keep up with it in the twisties.

Chris Harris said he had no trouble whatsover shaking off the 997 GT3 RS that was giving it's all trying to keep up with him on the mountain passes.

Like I said not the fastest. I'd probably want something that expensive to go beyond a touring car. I don't want like a Formula 1 car, but just something still rather amazing.

Is there a point to this overweight POS?
"I could build this thing too if I had the resources Bugatti had."

Wow, what an amazingly useless thing to say. You could build any car any company ever made if you had all their resources too, sheesh. I find it interesting that most anyone not 'impressed' by the Veyron usually ends up sounding like petulant child who's jealous about not getting a toy they want.
        Making you jealous ;)

        THe Veyron IS impressive.

A Koeniggseg, SSc Aero etc, is not. Those are just carbon fibre shells with powerfull engines in it.

And people who have actually driven the Veyron, Mclaren F1, Koenigsegg, Pagani etc also say the Veyron is the most impressive.
Is there a point to this OVERPRICED POS?
A more impressive car? McLaren F1. Maserati MC12. Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

And that's even before I count cars I don't like the looks of (of which the Veyron is one). Then I can count the Ferrari Enzo and FXX and various Pagani Zondas.

The Veryron is impressive if you're impressed by high HP sleds just because of their HP. But hey, if I worshiped HP alone, I'd be a fan of the NHRA.

But I don't. And I don't find the Veyron impressive.
The Veyron is special because through sheer engineering they did something that it was not supposed to be able to do. A car that looks like that with "only" 1000 hp shouldn't be able to go 252 MPH.

Not only can it do it, it can do it stably. Based of sheer ingenuity it's the best car ever made IMO. It is the ultimate GT car.
As LS stated, the McLaren F1 is much more impressive. It gets about 20mph less with almost half the HP and practically no electronics. Oh, and it's more than 10 years older too.
The veyron is made to be an amazingly fast, and excessively luxurious. Yes it is heavy, but lightness isn't what it was ultimately made for.
Do I love the car-Hell no
Do I like the car-a little
Do I respect the car-Hell yes
I don't get it. Can't you pretty much customize anything with this car to begin with?
Sang Noir? Doesn't that mean "black blood" in French?
      this version really sucks

      look at the wheels...

      terrible design

I can't believe that they let this slide
