And you thought $79,995 was crazy...GT500KR for sale on ebay for $154,991.00

When Ford announced the GT500KR's based price of $79,995, many of you thought that it was pretty steep for a Mustang. Even though it's a limited edition Shelby with 540 horsepower, $80,000 can buy a lot of really nice cars. What's even more insane is that we know people will not only buy the KR, but they will pay tens of thousands of dollars over MSRP just to have one. The only question was how much dealers would try and gouge. That question has been answered. Lone Star Ford in Houston, TX has put up a red GT500KR on eBay Motors with a "Buy It Now" price of...$154,991.00. That's nearly double the MSRP. Who knows if anyone will actually buy it at that price, but going off what happened with the standard GT500, then it's quite possible. While we enjoyed our first drive in the GT500KR (check out Part 1 and Part 2), we can think of quite a few cars we'd rather have for $150,000.

"LOL" indeed. BMW M6. Jaguar XK-R. Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Or, a souped-up Mustang. Gee, this is going to be a toughie...
Maybe instead of making faster versions of the POS base car, Ford should make the base car suck less. Start with a new interior, and then add this wonderful thing called an "independent rear suspension", and no more live-axle crap.

Listen, laugh all you want. At the end of the day, the dealer has put a Buy it now price?
Do you really think he expects to get that? No, but when you are negotiating the sale of your auto, you can always negotiate down, negotiating the price up is harder.
If he put a BIN of 90K and there was some yahoo who was willing to spill 105, he left 15K pure profit on the table. He puts it in at 155 and some joker offers 95, no harm no foul if he takes it.

I'm sure that if someone click BIN, that dealer is not going to neg lower the price. They are going to want that full 155k

This is equivalent to a Yugo for $50K

That's just too much.
This car would only be worth that much (in theory) if this was the only one produced, or even one of five.
A great car I'm sure, just not $154.991 worth of great.

That's just awesome. Almost all car dealers are clueless, but this one is the dumbest kid on the short bus.
I mean really, $150k for a supercharged Mustang? For that price, I can buy a Z06 Corvette AND a Nissan GT-R. I laughed out loud just typing that sentence...

30k more gets you both the ZR-1 and the GT-R. Now THAT made me laugh out loud.
geo.stewart 7:43PM (5/04/2008)
assuming you can get a GTR without a similarly "market adjusted' price..

Good Luck with that one.

Sticker price of $45K? I wonder if those guys have gotten confused between a GT500 and a KR.

LOL @ this comment in their ad:
"THE SHELBY KR's will be "epa" rated and street legal before May 1st. DON't Panic (only if you drive a car with an ugly bow tie, you should be worried) "
If they believe the KR really is the "king of the road", there shouldn't be any need to bash other car brands as the KR should speak for itself. Pathetic marketing skills IMO.

Coming from a dealership, I just see a bit of humor. Now if it were a Ford commercial....
