@LS2/LS7- That is the European cycle, yes, but its the "combined" cycle, and you compared it to the "highway" US cycle (gas version). Be careful on your math. The TDI is still going to average 40% better than the gas version.

On a side note, I would like manufacturers to make their diesels compliant with B100 diesel (or B99, whatever). With regular gas reaching $3.70 and diesel at an excruciating $4.40, I'm sure biodiesel is cheaper than regular diesel now.
