Chrysler is looking to offload two of its axle plants in an effort to limit its in-house parts production. The automaker has already offered to sell both plants to American Axle & Manufacturing and Dana Corp. for $400 million, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal. Unfortunately for Chrysler, however, there hasn't been much interest in the offer. The move could also include the closure of Detroit Axle and the purchase of Chrysler's unfinished plant in Marysville. All of this is further proof that the Cerberus-owned automaker is making a serious attempt to pair down its production facilities and lessen its overhead.[Source: Wall Street Journal, Photo by Bill Pugliano/Getty]

Nice Trunk!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. Since when did an assembly line have cute blondes on it? Must be the recession...

forget axles, i'm more interested in rear ends!
Mehul @ Apr 28th 2008 1:26PM
She is probably a 40 year old that has a nice body.
FThorn @ Apr 28th 2008 1:26PM
Uh, having worked at an axle plant personally, and with a man that is probably working near that lady in the photo nowdays, I can say that we ALWAYS referred to them as rear-ends.

If she's 40, she's one hot cougar!
klitorisaurus @ Apr 29th 2008 12:51AM
Totally! Here I was thinking that working in factory would be the worst possible place to pick up chicks. It's probably just a PR pic with the one of the hot girls from accounting.

I agree with everything said .. sweet.
Dude @ Apr 28th 2008 12:39PM
Maybe GM could pick one up and drop American Axle, since their employees don't want to work.
Car Designer @ Apr 28th 2008 12:42PM
dang, that girl on the assembly line's lookin' good. Normally you hear pretty wild stories about union workers, but you never see any that look like that...
Shotgunner @ Apr 28th 2008 12:52PM
Chrysler's trying to sell their plants, and I can't think of any better way to build perceived value in them than to fill em with hot blondes
Salesmanship at its best!
havoc @ Apr 28th 2008 1:08PM
actually this is just a rendering of what an assembly line worker COULD look like.
pacman @ Apr 28th 2008 1:14PM
Its no big deal but has any one else ever noticed that when you see pictures of European and Asain manufacturing plants the workers look more professional than the US plants? Especially the Germans, they usually have nice uniforms (tucked in and clean) and are usually well groomed and not fat. Just an observation.

Look more indentured.

I'd hit it.

I bet you'd hit a lot of things, I just hope you don't have any animals.

The Axle Plant?
xpolarx @ Apr 28th 2008 1:39PM
I'm very bothered by the fact that these workers will soon be without a job. And if any of them -- namely the one in the foreground -- needs someone to talk to about it, I'd like to be the first to offer myself as an open ear.
Benfolio @ Apr 28th 2008 1:49PM
I'm guessing butterface on this one.
mroverlord @ Apr 28th 2008 1:59PM
I don't suppose anyone noticed that is NOT an axle plant. They build AXLES (and transaxles) at axle plants..not cars. That looks like a minivan or Avenger.
I'm also willing to bet that's a set up photo...she can barely reach the vehicle. If that were her regualr work station I think she'd have a stool, or they'd have the car lower.
Either way, I'm not sure if this is good or not. Will they still be building thier own axles at other plants? Is the Marysville plant the one they are building along with Getrag??
