Spots... The TDIs get nearly twice the fuel economy of comparable gas models. My Beetle gets 42 MPG in-city (aggressive driving to boot) and I'm pretty sure the gas Beetle's don't get more than 24 MPG in-city. Sure, regular is about $3.60 around here and I just filled up with diesel at $4.15. With these numbers as an example, it's costing about $0.15/mile for a gas Beetle and $0.10/mile for a diesel one. For my diesel to cease being cost-effective, gasoline would have to cost like $3/gal LESS than diesel...
