Second crash at Bond filming proves MI6 hates Alfas too

Filming of the latest Bond flick,
Quantum of Solace, has been put on hiatus after two stunt drivers were injured during filming. The crash apparently took place while performing a chase sequence where one driver in an Alfa Romeo crashed into a wall while chasing Bond's Aston Martin DBS along the Gardesana, a curvy road that lines Lake Garda. The man behind the wheel of the Alfa was flown to the hospital in a helicopter and is in serious condition, while his passenger sustained only minor injuries.
This news comes within days of the
previous crash that put one of the DBSs used for filming into the
same lake, and despite the fact that filming was about to be wrapped today, the set remains closed until an investigation takes place.
Thanks to all who tipped in.[Sources:

Seems like most of the "stunt drivers" in Hollywood are just really good at Rockfords and that's about it.

Dang, I sure hope the driver is okay.

Budget stunt team
Allan @ Apr 24th 2008 1:08PM
Or hopefully... absolutely insane chase scenes.
Can't wait!
steveo391 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:19PM
Maybe they were filming the same scene when the DBS crashed and they just don't want to tell us about it
Duders @ Apr 24th 2008 1:23PM
This means either one of two things; As everyone else has stated the bond filmmakers really didn't have much of a budget to work with to hire stunt drivers.
OR The whole film is going to be one giant chase scene and since they're filming 2 and a half hours of live chase scenes there are bound to be a few mishaps. I'm hoping for the latter.

Just because they say they are professional stunt drivers doesn't mean they ARE professional stunt drivers. Always check references! :)

*But he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

I bet those chase scenes are gonna be insane and full of on the edge thrills. Can't wait.
Quattrofan @ Apr 24th 2008 1:35PM
Judging by the direction they took with Casino Royale, I am hoping for realistic looking type of stunts (think more Bullit then Fast & Furious).
You know.... the type of stunt driving requiring real drivers with skills, multiple takes and few damaged cars.

Wait a minute, where's everybody's compassion? All that all of you can do is poke fun at the stuntmen? One of them was hurt seriously. Stuntmen risk their lives so that you can enjoy these movies. There's always been injuries on movie sets. Get real, get a life and pray for the those that are hurt.

Hey! Keep your God out of our car blog topic replying thingy.
Allan @ Apr 24th 2008 3:05PM
In case you didn't read the article... doing dangerous stunt work is their JOB! Why would I pray for that? They know what they're getting into. It's not like it was some tragic school-bus-hit-by-train incident that we all need to worry about.
Yes, it sucks that he was hurt. And I really hope he turns out fine. The article said he was airlifted and in serious condition. There's nothing more I can do about it - except to hope that the movie turns out awesome and all of these crashes are worth it.
mikomi @ Apr 24th 2008 1:55PM
I hope the driver makes a speedy recovery.
Sometimes, with all the preparations in the world, things can still go wrong. It's a Murphy's Law, you just do your damned best to not have anything bad happen.
Fritz @ Apr 24th 2008 1:56PM
Maybe a sign the cars are too heavy?
swe @ Apr 24th 2008 2:11PM
crashed an alfa? better not be the 8c or i'll have to kill mr bond.
Westside T.O. @ Apr 25th 2008 12:52AM
No, I think it was a 159...they showed them in some spy videos on YouTube!
Shrawan @ Apr 24th 2008 2:14PM
I hope the stunt man who is hurt is ok...onscreen results are just because of people like these who put their life on the line for that 30 or 60 seconds..
cheers

Just b/c you didn't put the http in front of your spam link, it doesn't mean you're not still spamming. Go away.

He's my God, too, and that of billions of others. Take your intolerance elsewhere.
Besides, the point of Jerry's comment was to show some appreciation for the dangerous nature of stuntwork.
