4-speed transmission??? C'mon!!!!!!! What a joke!!!
StickShift @ Apr 24th 2008 10:29AM
I get a kick out of it being a _GM_ 4 speed transmission.
I love GM--they produce products in such great quantities for so long that they wind up being stuffed into everything! And a byproduct of that is the vast array of parts available for them, such as this paddle shifter kit. You can't say the same about Ford or Mopar stuff, let alone the Japanese or Europeans.

Built Ford Tough with Chevy Stuff...

You're the joke. What do you think? every car must come with overdrive? Not many modern six seven or eight speed cars, including anything that Saab, Volvo, Mazda, Renault, Fiat, Ford, Subaru, Toyota, Jaguar or Aston Martins currently builds could carry this car's jock strap. As a matter of fact, this joke would destroy 90% of all the cars in production in the world today. How's that for a joke.

@Oak
Agreed.
Besides, there are two other factors:
1. 4 speeds is plenty with that much power. Otherwise, you'd be struggling to shift it fast enough to keep up. Plus, it's more period-correct. (At least in the number of gears... remember this is essentially a paddle-shifted 4-speed manual, not a 4-speed auto, even though it's based on an auto trans.)
2. Autos with 5, 6 and 7 speeds are relatively new developments and would have needed a custom bellhousing to make them work, which takes a lot of engineering. The GM-based 4 speed needed that too, but because of it's popularity, the adapter kit is readily available and the trans is known to take the abuse. All that was left to do was develop the paddle shift system.

Are you kidding? I just put a coil pack from a Neon in my Subaru Legacy GT.
But yeah, what a waste of a paddle shifter... only 4 gears. GAY.

@ Mr. Oak.
Did you say Fiat, Saab, Renault, and Volvo as if they could carry the jockstrap of any car? LOL I think we know who the joke is now. What a tool!
