Who the heck names a supercar Keating?? Sounds like a guy who built something in a workshop and named it after his family. Look at names like Ferrari, Pagani or even stately sport cars like Bentley and Aston, all of which command respect. A supercar should have a sense of passion in everything and as far as I can see, this lacks the P word in everything, right from the design to the name itself.

Zane

Comments on Keating SKR supercar launches in Britain

Most car companies have "family" names. The reason you think of cool cars when you hear those you listed is because those brands are established. Keating is as good a start as any. But Keating is almost as common a surname as Smith is out here. Imagine having an American supercar that's named Smith xxx.
Established brands, eh? Pagani was an unknown entity at the start of this decade. But one look at their Zonda confirmed that the car had soul. Frankly speaking, this looks like a tuner-designed body kit on the top of another car rather than a good design. It may very well be a Veyron beater with 1500hp of fury but it sure doesn't look like a good "supercar". /rant

Zane

Comments on Keating SKR supercar launches in Britain

Well, Ferrari actually means Smith in Italian and it's a very common name.

Ronald Jones

Comments on Keating SKR supercar launches in Britain

If John McCain is elected president in the U.S.A. the manufacturer of this supercar can honor the newly elected president by dropping in a 5 cylinder engine and calling it the Keating 5.

BOZO

Comments on Keating SKR supercar launches in Britain

What Conor said.

Don't know whether this will beat the speed record. On one hand, you'd think they'd have a pretty good idea of how it will perform. Assuming that is the LS1, that make 505 hp stock in the corvette, it seems like any hillbilly with a wrench could slap on a supercharger and get 150 extra ponies out of an engine. Maybe im not reading that right, but I would expect that number to be close to the 800 hp mark, when you consider all that can be done to an engine to coax extra HP out even before the supercharger is added. 7.0L is a huge motor.

Cole Mitguard
