i'm still undecided about this car - i think it looks pretty good and i'm sure it'll perform well, but i don't see the purpose...when the A6 Avant is one of the most beautiful cars on the market, why would anyone even want this car?

Totally agree with you!
Audi, along with Volvo, already make the best looking wagons in the world and it seems that adding the Q5 and XC60 are just diluting the brands so they can say "Hey look, we have another SUV/SAV/CUV/XYZ.....
Gregg @ Apr 21st 2008 11:29AM
Yes they need it. For the same reason they needed the Q7, even though they already had the allroad. For the same reason Volvo brought out a ute, even though they had the Cross Country, or VW the Tuareg, even thougj they had offered anall wheel drive Passat wagon. Maybe it makes no sense, but the American public does not buy wagons in a big way, but jack 'em up and call them an SUV (or better yet CUV) and they sell better. Stupid but true.

Not Audi's most attractive vehicle (I would've prefered they graft the new A4 front end to it), but it's certainly not as ugly as that pug X3.
jgp @ Apr 21st 2008 12:12PM
Agreed.
It's easily the best-looking vehicle in its class (makes the X3 and GLK look like the fugly monstrosities they are, and embarasses the LR2), but I still have an aversion to tall vehicles. I'd never get this while the A4 Avant or the A6 Avant is still on the market.
Audi and Infiniti make by far the best-looking SUVs, but they're still disproportionately tall vehicles, and I'd rather have a car.

Audi is trying to keep up with the likes of BMW and Mercedes: All things to all people instead of touting their diesel superiority in motorsports.
Another useless German vehicle with no place over here. IUf they wanted to introduce a vehicle like this it needed to happen 10 years ago. sorry Audi, you FAILED.
