General Motors has just put a video featuring the designers of the new Buick Invicta concept discussing their new creation. The video is part of a series of "Studio Stories" episodes that GM has been producing over the past year. Exterior design lead Justin Thompson and other members of the team talk about the approach they took to create the concept that debuted at the Beijing Motor Show today. Although the Invicta is labeled as a concept this sleek four door is thought to be very close to the LaCrosse replacement that will probably debut sometime next year. The Invicta carries over a lot design elements from last years Riviera concept that also debuted in China and was a joint effort between members of GM's North American and Chinese design teams. If the next new Buick actually stays true to this concept, there may be hope for the brand yet. Check out the video after the jump.

GM is back from the dead. I always knew the Americans could build better cars (and airplanes) than anyone else. Kill the name Lacrosse and call it the Invicta. Now I'd like to see the next Lucerne/Park Avenue/Electra 225. My vote is for the latter.

Australians showing y'all how it's done .. AGAIN!

Its funny how they say it was a collaboration between USA and China.. and then the Lead designer is actually an Australian

So, Camaro, G8, GMC Denali showcar, and now Buick Invicta.. are done by Australians.. and all great cars!!

...I think GM should move its headquarters to Australia!

      VERY GOOD LOOKING....
Nice competition for the Lexus GS and the Lincoln MKWhatever. Not shocking as a design, but a little shocking as a production Buick, compared to the present line.
It would REALLY be daring to replace the grandpa-ish Lacrosse with this car --- it's a fastback, only a few inches of trunk. The remaining loyalists may not go for it. But then, they may all be drooling, before this hits the streets.
BTW-- I saw a 2009 Lacrosse, a carryover car with the large grille of the Invicta added, on the streets in Hollywood last week -- about to be filmed for a commercial. I wonder why they didn't simply drive a few miles to Forest Lawn, lol.

Give it door handles, the 3.6L direct injection V6 with a 6-speed manumatic and I'm all in. Bob Lutz gave us the 300M, which for it's time and the money, was a great car. Now he's following up with this. Awesome job, Bob!

The "Trim and Color" designer is definitely Korean. It's funny how the video insinuates that she's Chinese.

I love this new Scion, this is what Toyota should have done from the start. What, Buick? Oh, never mind.

What does he mean "carries over a lot of the design elements of the Riviera"? If that were the case I'd LOVE this car...but the front ends are VERY dissimilar, with the Invicta featuring none of the very cool and sculptural design elements of the Riviera, especially as regards the bumper and air dam. BIG disappointment after almost 2 years of waiting for a fresh, dare I dream radical new Buick sedan as was rumored by insiders who said we'd be "shocked" when we saw it.

Yes!! make this car. I have had 3 Rivs (4 buicks in all)....and I miss them, and the car. Buick needs another "COOLl" car. I am in my 50's but I don't want to drive a car like I am in my 60's.

I bought the Charger RT, because the Lucerne was FWD and BORING!!.....Chevy's Monte Carlo SS was ok...but FWD, and a bit on the cheesy side...I wanted something more.
Buick is a quality car.....it needs a cool car in its lineup again....I will buy it!

GM seems to be waking up....

Buick NA just needs to hand over the company to the Chinese since they seem to really be more in tune with the designs that most normal people like.
