FF4 gets official name, plot details revealed

Our cinema-obsessed sister-site got the low down on the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, and since the plot and character development (or lack thereof) will be predictable enough, Universal decided to drop the "Four" from the title, so the new flick will simply be known as "Fast and Furious." But wait, there's less. The plot synopsis involves everyone's least-favorite tight-laced trooper, Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and the smash-happy Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) reigniting their feud, but putting bad blood aside to defeat a "shared enemy." The movie will take place in Los Angeles and Mexico, and despite his better angels, the film's director Justin Lin is considering another installment before retiring the series. Fast and Furious is due to hit theaters June 5, 2009. Mark your calendars in anticipation, or avoidance.

The shared enemy is going to be an evil oil-company exec who drives a Twin-Turbo Viper. Only their super fuel-efficient Rice Rockets can stick it to the man in a cross continent endurance race to the death!

One of my buddies drove by one of the sets in downtown LA. There are at least Skylines in the film and I think he said Challengers. The Mines GTR is at least making an appearance as that car arrived here in LA last weekend.

This is awesome, awesome news. I hope we get at least weekly updates about this fantastic franchise film here on Autoblog. It's more important than Transformers, for sure. This franchise is amazing, Paul Walker is the consummate action hero and Vin Diesel, well, he's freaking Vin Diesel man! Color me Furious!

To be honest, I kind of liked the first one. The plot was relatively good, and even though it was kinda' cheesy throughout, it was entertaining.
The second one- not so much, and I haven't even bothered watching the third. This fourth one, however, may be worth it. Maybe.

You do realize that the first movie was Point Break with cars instead of surfers.

No, because I haven't seen Point Break.
The first one was pretty damn entertaining no matter how many ricers and Jap-mobiles there were.

I absolutely loved the first Fast and the Furious movie - in the same way I loved Hackers. Its a fun time - you just cant take it too seriously. The third movie was pretty good as well. So, Im looking forward to the new one.

I enjoyed the first one, and Hackers is probably one of my favorite movies. Even though now it is horribly outdated, and was completely absurd when it come out, I still enjoyed it.
Movies like that you just sit back and enjoy. Don't think too hard about it, just watch the shiny objects. :)

The sarcasm is strong with this one

All you haters out there are doing this all wrong. The point of the fast and furious is to stumble into the theater obnoxously drunk, throwing popcorn, and generaly making an A of yourself.
Dont USE THE BIG BOTTLE PAUL WALKER, YOU MIGHT BLOW AN INTAKE WELD!

Here is a video of some of the cars that will be in the movie... I could recognize an NSX, Soltice, a couple Civics... that's about it. Anyone else?
