Might as well put "We don't want jobs!" on those signs you are going to wave...
sk @ Apr 17th 2008 1:03PM
or "scum bags on strike" and "we are proud to black mail our employer"

yeah how dare workers, the people actually BUILDING the product the company sells demand liveable wages and working conditions! That money could be used to pay executives or unneeded middle management!

@joe blow
Oh yea, poor workers making $100k+ to put a couple of fenders on a car.

I think it's funny that FoMoCo and GM are losing money left and right, and are in danger of bankrupcy in the near future. But yet at the same time they are paying their CEO's and upper management millions every year!!!!
Anybody wanna know why Ikea is so successful and profitable and yet sells their product so cheap? The CEO refuses a high salary. He makes only $150,000 a year. That pales in comparison to other CEO's.
If FoMoCo and GM paid their exec's only around 150k each a year they would save millions of dollars. that money could be used to really turn the company around. But no, that will never happen. They dont truly care about the company, just how fat their wallets are

d3a,
If you make this type of comparisons, you need to look at Oracle and Apple. Both CEOs make $1 a year.

@d3a
Yep, Ikea's CEO takes out ~150K a year but those stock options are sure nothing to laugh at. It made him one of the richest person in Sweden. I guess you can't call it "salary".
Do you really think the millions paid out to the top management makes a difference on how GM performs? Please!

If US auto manufacturer CEOs were only paid in GM stock, the company would either be highly profitable by now or we'd see a lot of starving Big 3 CEOs panhaling outside headquarters.
