eBay Find of the Day: 2005 Maserati MC12
The Maserati MC12 is a rare beast. Only 25 were made in 2005 and just seven of those were federalized for use in the United States, one of which is this blue-and-white gem you see above. Similar to its brother, the Ferrari Enzo, the MC12 shares not only the Ferrari 6.0-liter V12, but the same hefty price tag, as well. The current bid for this particular example is over $1,200,000 and still under the reserve. Originally owned by a collector in Florida, it is up for sale by Lamborghini of Las Vegas and only has 521 miles clocked on the odometer. Check out the gallery below for additional photos while you figure out how to cash in that 401k that's not doing anything for you right now.

The exterior ain't bad, but my God, the interior. It looks like a dog drank a blue slurpee and barfed all over it, and somebody wen't back to the 80's to finish it off.

Actually, there is ALWAYS at least one MC12 on Ebay at any given time...

I have seen and touched one of these. It drove about 2 feet away from me. (This was at a local exotics show which also had a Veyron.) This thing is really ugly in person. I mean it's really, really ugly. It looks like a complete, street illegal race car. The engine sounds like cats being chopped up on a metal cutting board. This thing is ridiculous. It's SO LOUD.

User, you completely missed the point. The MC12 was designed as a one-off batch of cars to allow Maserati to compete in the GT championship. This is not your average GranSport or GranTurismo. What's the point of a semi-race car if it's not LOUD or doesn't look like a street illegal race car?
Stick with your Audis and Mercs if you want something that slips by under the radar.

Hell, the dealerships whole inventory is impressive.

Wow, has it been that long? Seems like just yesterday that Clarkson was wetting his pants in this thing.

I just saw Clarkson's Top Gear review of this car the other day and IMO, he wasn't impressed. He said it was a brilliant track car but basically useless anywhere else (i.e. no rear window). It was fast though.

Hah, I hope no one bought one thinking it was anything other than a FIA GT Championship car with some carpet.

love the car.... trying real real hard to like that color/scheme.

The color scheme is meant as a tribute to the early 1960s Maserati Birdcage run by the America Camoradi race team.

ahh understood...thanks man. ok if there is a reason for it then it a collector would be psych'd i guess. (still odd combo)
i'll have to retract my bid, i was gonna buy it and have Earl paint it black...

Kinda like red Ferrari's I suppose.
I respect that they didn't decide to make the int. Non traditional

That is the 2nd ugliest piece of machinery I've ever seen. For that amount of money, I'll take the lesser-rare Enzo....or I'd buy a Nissan GT-R VSPEC for everyday of the week.

Or I'd buy a CCX and put your GT-R to shame.
Cary 3:21AM (4/18/2008)
+1 [CCX]
