The Maserati MC12 is a rare beast. Only 25 were made in 2005 and just seven of those were federalized for use in the United States, one of which is this blue-and-white gem you see above. Similar to its brother, the Ferrari Enzo, the MC12 shares not only the Ferrari 6.0-liter V12, but the same hefty price tag, as well. The current bid for this particular example is over $1,200,000 and still under the reserve. Originally owned by a collector in Florida, it is up for sale by Lamborghini of Las Vegas and only has 521 miles clocked on the odometer. Check out the gallery below for additional photos while you figure out how to cash in that 401k that's not doing anything for you right now.

Wow, has it been that long? Seems like just yesterday that Clarkson was wetting his pants in this thing.

Hah, I hope no one bought one thinking it was anything other than a FIA GT Championship car with some carpet.

I would take one of these over an Enzo any day. The only problem would be that I wouldn't dare drive it, its just too rare. I would hate to be the guy that totalled one :)

Love that car. Too bad it's so rare.

It shows that the Enzo didn't have to have that awful "styled by wind tunnel" shape.

Neil, what state are you in? Ferrari Maserati of Silicon Valley had an MC12 with this color scheme for quite a while in the window for quite a while, but it hasn't been there for a few months (got replaced by an Enzo, which has now been replaced with more "normal" Ferrari fare). I was hoping they still had it but were just keeping it in the back or something, but maybe they sold it to a private individual, or maybe this is the one in the Ebay auction... who knows.

        porschedevotee,

It's in northern NJ, but I'm sure all of the MC12s have the same color scheme.

I know that Gerd Petrik out of Osprey, FL owned an MC12, as well as a pair of Mclaren F1s years ago and a Mercedes CLK GTR.

He used to have a website up that showed his collection of exotics but has since gone down.

the hangovers, I mean the overhangs
      ;-(

I don't understand why everyones complaining about those colors. I love them. It's a ridiculous hyper car, I don't want it blending in or being anything near normalcy.
I think almost all MC 12's are this color scheme. I cannot really think of when I saw a different color on them. It is slightly better then the Enzo, but not enough for mere mortals to understand.

Interesting selection at that dealership though, the Muira looks perfect, and that Viper GTS I bet is under 40k right now if the Viper market is where I think it is.

That is the 2nd ugliest piece of machinery I've ever seen. For that amount of money, I'll take the lesser-rare Enzo....or I'd buy a Nissan GT-R VSPEC for everyday of the week.
Or I'd buy a CCX and put your GT-R to shame.
        +1 [CCX]

Ok it's a rare car and everything but...

the interior is blue and the dash instruments has a "V12" logo there... and the whole interior looks like it came out of a (never mind).

But why would you (the original buyer) buy it in the first place then drive a few hundred miles and then sell it?
The exterior ain't bad, but my God, the interior. It looks like a dog drank a blue slurpee and barfed all over it, and somebody wen't back to the 80's to finish it off.

I have seen and touched one of these. It drove about 2 feet away from me. (This was at a local exotics show which also had a Veyron.) This thing is really ugly in person. I mean it's really, really ugly. It looks like a complete, street illegal race car. The engine sounds like cats being chopped up on a metal cutting board. This thing is ridiculous. It's SO LOUD.
User, you completely missed the point. The MC12 was designed as a one-off batch of cars to allow Maserati to compete in the GT championship. This is not your average GranSport or GranTurismo. What's the point of a semi-race car if it's not LOUD or doesn't look like a street illegal race car?
Stick with your Audis and Mercs if you want something that slips by under the radar.
Actually, there is ALWAYS at least one MC12 on Ebay at any given time...
