Spy Shots: More images of the Lotus Eagle taking flight
Fresh spy shots have surfaced of the upcoming Lotus project Eagle coupe. Lotus released some teaser shots of the front suspension a couple of months ago and we've seen the prototype wearing the over-sized fender camo before. These new shots, however, give us the clearest view yet of the new 2+2 sports car. The Eagle is expected to be derived from the architecture of the Elise/Exige, although it will be longer accommodate a pair of 911-style pseudo-seats between the front seats and rear firewall. The four-pot engines used in the current models are expected to give way to a more highly tuned variant of Toyota's 3.5L V6 as used in the Camry and assorted other vehicles from the Japanese maker. The Eagle should get a proper name and shed the extra bulk at the corners in time for this summer's London Motor Show. Fans of Hethel products should be able to to get one around the end of the year. Eagle? or you mean the new Esprit that Lotus has been working on for a while now? I remember it being featured on R&T a while ago...

with the black camo, it reminds me of the lambo reventon and from what i can tell, the taillights look a lot like the GT-R's.

I think in this case, one could make the point that it's not the heart that counts; at least it'll be reliable...
I wanna see Lotus get with BMW and drop that V8 in there :P

Is there some agreement between Toyota and Lotus why we can't see a sports car come out of Toyota?

I don't think so. I think Lotus just wants a bulletproof engine.
And before anyone pipes up, yes I know that there have been recalls, only post if you know of a large volume manufacturer that hasn't had any recalls and has had the historical reliability of a Toyota.

Where is this thing being tested? I mean the licence plate is GB but the car is LHD.

that got to be one of the best camo job i've ever seen. that is just downright funny. you really can't tell anything. gotta love the ingenuity.
