Rendered Ruminations: The AM V10, Aston Martin's next halo car (not really)

Click above for high-res gallery of AM V10 renderings
Like most rendered ruminations, we know absolutely nothing about these digital drawings of a car named the Aston Martin AM V10, other than they were penned by someone who goes by Sabaman. They're not new either, having been uploaded onto the interwebs about a year ago. Nevertheless, they're very good and show off a vision for Aston Martin's future that's become all the more relevant since the brand's been sold by Ford. Perhaps building ever faster versions of its current lineup won't cut the mustard someday soon, and Aston will begin considering a proper halo car. Such a low-slung, mid-engine exotic like this AM V10 concept could do the trick. It's swoopy with a familiar Aston Martin front face, but the rest of the body is pure sex. Again, we reiterate, these renderings are purely fantasy and nothing like this is being planned, but we wouldn't mind if it were. Thanks for the tip, Timon!

I really liked it until I realized there'd be no engine in the front... so what the heck is under that enormous hood?

The golf clubs?

Exactly.
If it's a mid-engine car, lose the front overhang.
The front fenders could be blended into the hood alot more and the hood would then not look so much like something you could land a helicopter on.
Unless it's a Bond car...
Nah...

Those Ferrari headlights look like they shrunk in the dryer.

I love Aston's, but this looks too much like the Jaguar XJ220

Looks more to me like a Jaguar XJ13, with an Aston grill plastered on the front.

I understand what this guys is doing with the mid-engine layout -it's the best for an extreme sports car- but I'm not sure it that architecture fits Aston Martin's DNA, which always was more about refined (even if a bit brute) GTs...

The first rule, when desigining a product is to research your brand.
Shame he didnt do that. Astons are all about front engined cars

I... somewhat like the front ...but the rest is ugly.

It's okay, but it's no Aston Martin!
I agree that it looks like an XJ220, too much so.
Nice job with the rendering, but remove the Aston mouth from the front and you have a rather generic looking mid-engine super car.

It must be that time of year when all the graduating transportation design students start unleashing their portfolios upon the world!
Kind of a lumpy design (like a plastic car that got left in the oven too long) and not particularly Aston Martin-like if you take off the grille and rear lights.

Wow, I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks it looks incredible. The wideset headlights emphasize the stance, and those rear haunches are like a beefier version of the Vanquish, and the way it flows into the tapering greenhouse...awesome. As for those who are complaining about the front overhang, look at the Enzo - it's necessary for aerodynamic elements at supercar speeds.
I think it's probably one of the best looking fantasy renders I've ever seen. Most are cartoonish with unresolved surfaces and poor proportions.
Sure, it might not fit in completely with the Aston DNA...but all the same criticisms above could be leveled at the XJ220 as a Jaguar - and it's gorgeous beyond belief.

I'm more on your side than the others. big AM fan, big exotic supercar fan (who isnt) and this does a decent job of merging the 2.
To pick at it, it looks 11/10 length and some proportions seem off. But that is true of just about all design students' renderings we see. They like to draw but they havent quite got the concept of real world applications yet.
