By the time you get to 680 HP, doesn't the issue of actually putting that power to the ground make rear-wheel-drive less desirable? i.e. I don't believe a Porsche 911 GT2 has ever outrun the weaker-but-AWD 911 Turbo.

It does...
But that lambo's wing is god-awful

Haha, a GT2 never outrun a Turbo? What are you on, the 993 GT2 ran circles around the 993 Turbo, same with the 996 and again the same with the 997.

You do realize the rear drive 911 GT2 is something like a 37/63 weight distribution.

Really? Even a 1996 911 Turbo did 0-60 in 3.6, and the GT2 didn't even show up until the next generation (with 483 HP I believe). What's its time?

Besides, Enzo and FXX don't seem to have any problems putting down that much power with much less weight.
The Ultima GTR can put down 720 hp with only 2200lbs, beating quite a few cars along the way too.

0-60 times don't say much. I was talking 996, the 1996 Turbo was the 993 model with 400hp, the 993 GT2 with 430hp and 1250kg was probably the fastest roadgoing car in terms of track performance in it's day.
The 996 GT2 already did a lap of the nurburgring in 7:45 back in 2001. Leaving the 996 Turbo trailing at 7:56.
