Alfa 8C Spider: the stuff that dreams are made of

Click to view the Alfa 8C Spider in hi-res
Alfa Romeo has graced us once again, this time with a set of new images showing the achingly gorgeous 8C Spider unveiled in Geneva last month. The sumptuous roadster is out on the street doin' its thang (yeah, we just used the word "thang") and only feeds our fantasies of speeding along some glass-smooth tarmac under a bright blue sky with the top down. Well a boy can dream, can't he? Click on the thumbnails below and you can drift off too, in one way or another.

Solstice is not an ugly car, but you may need an eye exam.

sure, it looks like a solstice... if you're the kind of person who looks at a tree and thinks it has sexy proportions
try looking at the details and the lines of the 8C and the solstice and you will see they are about as similiar as an apple and a coconut.
First, the 8C's bonnet has that sexy v-shape that goes from the windscreen to the front grille, while the solstice is rather..well, flat.
Second, notice the line that runs over the 8C's doors until it meets the curve of the front wheel arches, whereas the solstice is about as shapey on the side as a new VW beetle..
Third, the lights. I think it's pretty obvious there...the solstice has the front lights like the 350z and the rear lights like a peugeot saloon.
Fourth, the interior. Again, pretty obvious which one looks better.
seriously, the ONLY part where those two cars are similiar is the rear window.
you'd have to spend a LOT of hours on photoshop to make the pontiac look like the 8C :P

"Sweet dreams are made of this, who am I to disagree" - Eurythmics.
...indeed.
Sexy, sexy car. WAY more emotionally compelling than a F430 spyder. Something about a front-engine, RWD, 2-seat convertible V8 sports car.
This, and the Aston Vantage V8 convertible are object lessons in that category, Italian and British interpretations, respectively.

I dunno ... it's not identical, but I bet I could make a convincing Alfa 8C out of a Solstice without too much effort.
Still a GORGEOUS car, though (and the interior is 6 or 8 cuts above the Solstice's).

If I had a semi to nurse, I'd be nursing one right now...

The 8C reminds me of the BMW Z8 in that they're both priced 50% too high. The 8C does have exclusivity on its side but I can't help but think what a success it would be if they kept the price under 100k. Same with the Z8.

Being overpriced wasn't the Z8's only downfall. It had crap handling, too.

Don't like it.........in white.
I'll take a red one in a heartbeat though.

White probably not the best choice of colors, the silver in the gallery looked pretty good. I'd love to take one for a drive.

Is it some sort of sin to show what a convertible looks like with its top up?

This car can very well be one of those cars where when you're older and think back like damn, that was/is my dreamcar.

Alfa Romeo's new 8C Spider Roadster is gorgeous indeed...The designers, engineers and Italian craftsman did a great job.
Beautiful interior also...(I think a new steering wheel would compliment the design)...Perhaps, consumers may be able to custom pick their own color perference(s).
Is that a new drivetrain-transmission for Alfa Romeo's new 8C Spider Roadster??? Hmmm, interesting...(I wonder what the exhuast note will sound like...)
A French poet once wrote "Le but de l'art est presque divin: ressusciter, s'il fait de l'historie; creer, s'il fiat de la poesie."-The goal of art is almost divine: to resuscitate, if it concerns history; to create, if it concerns poetry...1827-(Victor M. Hugo-poet 1802-1885)
I think true automotive enthusiats remembers reading about the stuff of legends and what dreams are really made of...smile. (racing heritage!)
My Best regards-wishes to Alfa Romeo. Perhaps, there are more great vehicles to come.
