Isuzu, dumping product, posts highest sales since 2000
Aggressive dealer cash incentives ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 on vehicles has helped Isuzu record its first quarterly sales increase in nearly eight years. The news of 2,007 new units out the door follows the not-so-shocking report earlier this year that Isuzu is abandoning the U.S. market -- ergo the fire sale.
There are 201 Isuzu dealers in the U.S. right now, and all are tasked with clearing the balance of their inventory by Jan. 31, 2009. If you've got the hots for an Ascender SUV or an i-290 / i-370 pickup, now would be a great time to take a stroll over to your Isuzu dealer (and don't forget to let them know Autoblog told you about the rebates).

They used to but they were junk so they quit importing them in '93.

Get a great deal on a car, just no warranty? I assume the places will be closed, since they are leaving the USA, they have no incentive to honor the warranty, trained techs will go elsewhere and so on. Too scary for me. If you saved 4-8k on a car in that price range, hope you saved it for any problems.

They're just GM products anyway. I imagine you can take it to your local Chevy dealer for service.

David beat me too it... but you'd still have to be self-savy. Take it to ... well, just about ANYWHERE and they'll claim its super-expensive and exotic. Pickup a 20$ Haynes manual and you can probably do 90% of the work yourself.

If it's the same as the Colorado, there is no limited slip.
The G80 auto locker is an option, and is night and day better than limited slip.

Only available on the 5 cylinder, not the 4 cylinder. Ugh.

My local Isuzu dealer still has two new Colorados, I mean I-series, at 10K under MSRP.
Too bad they're 06s with the 3.5L.

I'm sorry to see Izuzu go.
Not what the brand has become, but for what they were.
The Trooper, Rodeo, Amigo, and the first gen Impulse were all so neat.
Even the other real Izuzu's were different and cool in their own ways.

As they say, hind sight is 20/20. Too bad that Isuzu
did not capitalize on it's diesel expertice and applying
that to it's passenger car lines 6 or 7 years ago.
If they did, they would have been sitting in the
cat bird's seat right about now!

I would feel bad for Isuzu leaving but then again it's like the demise of Oldsmobile with a Japanese name. Not to mention my strong disgust for GM will continue for many years which has added Isuzu to that list.
