Where's the guy that said there was no way Chevy would be making a convertible Camaro? Come on, don't be shy. It's time to eat your own words.
Tim @ Mar 28th 2008 9:28AM
There's nothing to eat. That's not a production car.
GM chose to save money by eliminating the dropping rear quarter glass in the coupe, and the coupe has window frames on the doors.
This means that in order to create a convertible, they would have to essentially re-engineer the whole door glass dropping system, which is not an inexpensive proposition to say the least.
I'm not saying their never going to do it, but the coupe, as designed, won't support a convertible version.

I hate to break it to you, man, but that's a production mule.
My '94 Cobra coupe doesn't have roll-down rear quarter glass but guess what... *gasp!* they made convertibles!

Uh, the coupe doesn't have window frames on the doors. Check out the link to the photo below.

This is one time I'll gladly admit I'm wrong. I don't see how GM reaches the sales targets without a convertible.
It's won't be the prettiest top, but guys like the dude with the 94 mustang seem satisfied with that, so who am I to argue, since I won't be buying one.

Tim,
You did say they weren't going to do it. Follow the link, it's right there in black and white.

It's just really hilarious to me that someone would be so sure they weren't going to make a convertible......in a pony car....

LOL. They showed us a convertible concept for crying out loud, and assured us that there would be a vert.
