Heres an interesting fact: The 2008 Tahoe 2 mode 2wd gets 21/22 mpg city highway, the 4wd gets 20/20. Even more interesting is that the 2008 Lexus LS 600h L gets 20/22 mpg city highway. Just food for thought. I see a lot of bashing of the Tahoe hybrid but is improvement not good?
2008 Lexus LS 600h L curb weight- 5049 HP- 389
2008 Tahoe 4WD hybrid curb weight- 5270 HP- 332
yet the MPG numbers are not too far off

AGK925

Comments on In the ABG Garage: 2008 Chevy Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid

That's cool and all but GM doesn't even have a viable hybrid sedan. My guess is that they don't because then they would be competing directly with Honda and Toyota, something they want to avoid at all costs. It's much easier to simply attack segments of the market where their Japanese rivals don't aggresively compete.

Disgruntled Goat

Comments on In the ABG Garage: 2008 Chevy Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid

Basing on your weird logic why is GM competing in the family sedan market? There's compete and then there's "compete". The Cobalt competes in the small car segment but it's not competitive. They need to become a car company and will over time, not an easy task, ask Toyota/Honda and Nissan how easy it is to become a truck company. Putting the hybrid system in their large vehicles is playing to their strengths it may or may not work, time will tell. If you do not need to tow over 4500 pounds but need the room buy a Saturn Outlook or GMC Acadia, 20 plus MPG and great interior flexibility.

roar

roar

Comments on In the ABG Garage: 2008 Chevy Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid

How can you say GM doesn't want ot compete against Toyota or Honda? The Malibu took some nice awards and they even compare it to the Honda Accord in their commercials. Saturn dealers even had Honda's on their lot for people to compare against the Aura.
