GM making sure Camaro accessories are ready

Genuine GM Accessories are as obsessively tested as the rest of the car during the design and prototype stage. When the production tweaks are being given to the basic car, the Accessories wizards are in there too, mocking up and trying out different creative ways to offer some pizazz at the parts counter. What we're most excited about in this video is the appearance of the new Camaro with some extra goodies. You don't get to see much, but the shroud of Auburn Hills gets pulled back just enough to show off ground effects done up in clay. The rear spoiler also appears to be different, though it's never actually shown. If customized Camaros of the past are any indication, we expect the hottest item will be the big peeing "Calvin" for the rear window and those ridiculous blackout head and taillight covers – this time, they'll be available with a GM part number, w00t! Top tippage, Tim!

How, for example, does GM "obsessivly test" a set of floor mats?

By making sure it doesn't jam the gas pedal down?

With today's cars leaving the factories with so much in the way of "options" now being standard equipment I'm glad to see that GM has decided to "endorse" some of the useless crap formerly available only from the aftermarket. How soon before we see those naked lady mudflaps with a GM part number?

Auburn Hills...that is were the supplier who has the GM accessory contract is located. Some pretty creative work goes on there as well as a great group of people.

Interesting to note in the video is that the Camaro under the tarp appeared to be supported by jack stands - likely to make it easier to roll a new set of wheels under it without having to jack it up each time.

I've always liked the black head light covers on gen III Camaros.

At least the accessories will be ready...... I just received my Vibe 2009 ans since it's Toyota based, Pontiac has ZERO accessories ready for it..... mudflaps, hood protector, steel rims, alloys secure nuts, trunk mat.... everything is "in order" fore the next 2-3 months.

Quite a bulge under that tarp in the back; looks like it will have a massive rear wing. The look of the rear kit is pretty modern and clean, I must say I'm very impressed with GM's seemingly renewed attitude towards high design.

Wow, seeing the silhouette of the car under the tarp really brings home how much GM needs to introduce a Firebird. The shape is perfect for it.

Just the little snippet of that rear I can tell that the rest of it is going to be spot on gorgeous.

THis is GREAT!! the camaro isn't even out yet and they are making accessories for it!! how cool, and another fabulous thing I noticed, everyday we see more pics of the camaro prototypes without the "camo" - but oh wait, you still can't buy the car for another year, that really makes sense, how much can the car F*cking change from one day to another?
