But the F40 is so much an extreme of Ferrari, whereas the Enzo went beyond into a street legeal race car, that has no race provenance. I guess in hindsite you can say the same thing about the f40... But seeing an enzo, f50 and f40 together, the f40 is the standout.

Fooman

Comments on VIDEO: Old vs. New - Ferrari 599 shows F40 a thing or two

Agreed. The 599 is not in the same league as the F40. It might be newer, with fancier technology and perform slightly better due to modern brake and tire technology, but it's no F40. Hell, the 599 gets beat by the Z06 around the Ring.

But I guess Ferrari did it out of marketing necessity. It would've made them look pretty bad if a brand new Ferrari can't beat an "80's car".

RJ

Comments on VIDEO: Old vs. New - Ferrari 599 shows F40 a thing or two

Amen, couldn't agree more. The 599 is just another "bleh" but in its day and age...the F40 was not evolutionary, but revolutionary. It, along with cars like the Porsche 959 ushered in the age of modern supercars as we know it. I'll leave the 599 to pretentious douchebags looking to haul around their golf clubs on sundays. The F40 can remain for those who are true to the heart of a brutal, unforgiving supercar.

fbxcore
