New York 2008: Hyundai Genesis coupe, LIVE

Click above for a high-res rubber-burning gallery
If there were ever a fail-safe formula for a press conference, Hyundai nailed it. While we're normally forced to endure lengthy tomes about an automaker's past achievements and the blatherings of egomaniacal execs, Hyundai comes out with two Genesis coupes doing burnouts, e-brake turns and powerslides, then caps it all off with enough pyrotechnics to make North Korea nervous. It was unequivocally badass, and not only does Hyundai have the recipe for a kicking press conference, they know how to cook up exactly what enthusiasts have been asking for.
Under the expert direction of a duo of bombshell drivers (one of which is Angelina Jolie's stunt driver, and both of which can be seen in the gallery), the two coupes made their way around the makeshift track in a smoky haze that was only partially caused by the copious amount of rubber put down on the faux tarmac (the rest was from the fireworks). Both models were present – the 310-hp, 3.8-liter V6 and the 223-hp (217 on swill-fuel) turbocharged 2.0-liter four. While there was a lot of talk about giving the people what they've yearned for, there was no word on price. We're guessing that the V6 will be somewhere around $25,000, while the turbo'd 2.0-liter will just crest the $20k mark.
Check out all the official info on the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in our original post, but don't forget to peruse the high-res gallery of live action shots from the presser below and the video too!

I bet Ford and Dodge were nervous, too. This looks to be Hyundai's best effort to shake the established companies to date.

I couldn't figure out what car it looks like, can you say
Toyota Solara.

I love all the autoshow coverage.
I just wonder if there is a way to consolidate all the separate articles. Three or four Hyundai coupe, two or three Pontiac Solstice Targa.
I want to read about them, but it might be nice to read about them in one place that gets brought to the top when things are added.
(and perhaps some of the comments won't be repeated each time with the same comments and questions, if they have already been posted...)
Just a constructive suggestion.
Thanks, and keep the info coming, either way. :D

If you look right below the thumbnail pictures of every article you'll notice some tags. Click on a tag and it'll show you all articles related to the topic.
So you can now view all articles related to every car

Thanks, and I saw that, and it is nice...
But still doesn't get to the point of three, four, and five headlines and separate articles, and a slew of repeated comments on a single topic on a single day.
If it is new news, and hasn't already been posted for a day, I can totally see another new headline and separate article.
But 5 Hyundai Genesis articles in a single day pushes other news down the page, and just duplicates a lot of information and space. 5 updates to TODAY's Genesis coverage in ONE headline and summary is easier to read, comment on, and navigate around.
I switch between reading autoblog on my computer and on my iPhone. navigating four pages of current headlines for today's NYIAS coverage is a bit much, when some of the topics have 5 headers, and push other news about other topics down and to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pages, which each have to reload all of the templated information, links, sidebars, ads, and all... I don't mind, except seeing 2 or 3 of the five headlines above the page break about a single topic, that could be consolidated.
I can imagine with people who check the site less frequently, that some news that gets pushed down the page quickly, and back into 3rd and 4th pages in short order, that some news might not get seen, despite the breaking news sidebar.
If there is NEW news about Hyundai Genesis Coupe tomorrow, I have no problem with it having a new header, but 5 of them today is a bit much.
Again, I am just suggesting some constructive information streamlining, not criticising the coverage. The coverage has been great. Thanks again.

And they ripped off the intro song from this commercial.

For some reason, the song reminded me of Sanjaya from last year's American Idol. I can't get it out of my head!!!

not a bad looking car, the interior looks incredible cheap but if you can get a v6 model with options for just under 25 ill look past that. But once it went over 25K id just get a mustang gt or a audi a3. My point is once you go over 25K you can get a much more desirable car instead if this.

cheap interior eh? Yet you'd get a Mustang? I guess green 1980's style led's are your idea of a nice interior.
Two of these vehicles are 2 door coupes. One is a 4 door wagon. Go actually price a decently equipped Audi A3. It ain't just over 25K.
You're all over the place and not making a lot of sense here. Different price ranges, different style cars, it's one step short of comparing it to a pickup.

Cheap looking interior? Your kidding right? It looks decidedly upscale from the Mustang and Charger and will probably whomp up on the Camaro as well.
Hell it would probably compete with a few 30k coupes/sedans just fine

223hp from the 4-pot at a cost of 19k? sounds like a good deal to me.

I would not be worried about the interior. Hyundai may not be as good as the trickery used by other manufacturers use to make their interiors look nice, but the materials put their competition to shame more often that not. Besides, have you actually sat in a Mustang? It may look cool in pictures but god what crap when your actually sitting in the thing.
I'm not a fan of the front end of the thing, but as a G35 owner I understand the need of the dip in the back windows.

yes, Dainas, i have sat in a mustang and i loved it. When i crashed my WRX they gave me a mustang for 2 weeks and i absolutely loved the car.

Lol, the Mustang's interior reaks. My friend owns one with the beige leather, but it doesn't hide the fact that the other materials were cheap looking. He did let me drive it and I loved how the torque pulled, though.

I sat in one at an autoshow recently for the first time
and it was probably the worst car interior I have EVER seen
after about 10 seconds, I got out and told myself never to do that again.

I guess he thinks this for a few reasons:
1) The previous (and current gen) WRXs (Imprezas in general really) have _Terrible_ interiors. A Mustang would seem expensive feeling in comparison.
2) He doesn't know what a really nice interior plastic feels like. The Mazda6 is a good example, if a little shiny sometimes. Its very soft and nicely grained.

I bet the turbo 4 will be the top of the line Tiburon, man thats going to be badass, hopefully!!! fingers cross....

I agree the CTS and the stangs interiors are awful, like some one went to the bathroom in them.
