Forums are fast becoming the bane of automakers that've spent a lot of time, energy and money coordinating a new car's debut. Nissan was hoping to debut the all-new 2009 Maxima tomorrow during the New York Auto Show, but forum Supernissans.net has burst this carmaker's bubble a bit early. Six pics of the new 2009 Nissan Maxima were posted on this forum, which we've included in the gallery below, and more have begun showing up on other sites around the web. We'll have details on the car, as well as more live shots and high-res official photos, tomorrow morning when the new Maxima rolls out on stage in the Big Apple. Until then, we're sure you're eager to check out the pics and discuss this polarizing design in the comments.

This design definitely doesn't flow, but it looks alright.

All of Nissans new vehicles look the same. It seems like all manufacturers are copying off of each other now anyways. Cars really dont have any personality now.

The head-on photo looks like a Nissan Stagea to me.

Don't care for the kink in the headlights and the wheel style. The rest is nice though.

It doesn't look all that great from the front, and it looks like it has Toyota Yaris Sedan rear lights out back.

Actually, i retract my statement, From the back it looks rather nice, however depending on the angle that you look at it. I don't care for that Kink in the front lights as well, like someone had mentioned here. The inside is very tasteful however.

I don't know why but it looks like a GT-R from the front except it's rounder... maybe a bit of TVR in that bonnet?
How can someone see a CTS in that? Seriously? the CTS is sharp edged. The maxima is round. THat comment reminds me of one of my family members who think all the new car designs are copies from old french cars. I keep telling him it's just because it has four wheels and a steering wheel that it seems that way.

It's really good looking after looking at the gallery. Out of all the angle I guess the side view made the headlight looks funky but other than that it's fine. Bring it on with those VQ35DE power!

Well, Maxima fans wanted a more clean, lean and masculine looking next generation model for this vehicle and I think Nissan delivered. I really like it.

They sure messed up on the headlights... it must have been draw by one of those people who can make a circle round.

okay... so first of all, so called automotive design guru's this car looks nothing like "thou art CTS" you guys finally have an american car that doesn't look like it was designed in the 80's and you use it as a measuring stick to compare everything else against... i mean they aren't even competing with eachother!!! the cts competes with the g35 and oh, by the way the g35/37 owners on this forum aren't intimidated by the CTS in the least.. it could have performed better, which is why it isn't as impressive to me.. as far as having yaris-like tailights, i'll give you that but everything else you guys are saying makes no sense.. i don't there is a car out today that doesn't at least some design language with its stablemates aka "altima" "murano".. What sense would that make?! why would nissan have a lineup of cars that all looked completlely different.. as far as nissan having too many v6 sedans, thats just dumb!! i don't see why the sentra se-r doesn't have the vq35 under the hood.. i personally don't think that people looking to buy an infiniti g35/37 would be shopping in the nissan dealership (although they are the same company) infiniti is more of a status symbol, and you guys are comparing apples to oranges.. if i have the money to buy, and WANT a g35 thats what i'm going to buy, i'm not going to go over to the nissan dealer and say hmm? why don't i just get a maxima, its cheaper.. just look at the japanese market and see how many v6 sedans toyota sells and alot of them are actually the same size which is another point i would like to make.. the maxima, altima, and g35 all drive completely different and as much as nissan would wish that all their sedans/coupes drove like the g35/gtr its just not possible and everyone isn't looking for the same driving dynamics.. and trust me the altima and maxima are two different cars and don't drive the same.. this car is not a bad looking car and if they could manage to throw in a 3.7 liter with all wheel drive this car would and could be the benchmark for midsize/midpriced sedans in america.. what other car companies are trying to bring the life back into the driving experience? take away the headlights/ THE NISSAN GTR INSPIRED fender flares and throw in some unoffensive tailights and make it all look pretty and what do you have? more vanilla. this car at least has a little personality and style and its not a bad looking car.. stop trying to compare every new car to what was out b4 it.. trust me every car on the road shares something with something that came before it... try to appreciate new cars when they come out for what they are instead of immediately dogging them for stupid reasons.. if this car brings its game to the table with awd or rwd this thing is going to be awsome...

i think it looks good... i have a 97 maxima with 220k miles and also an x5 2003 with 83k miles.. The Bmw has been in the shop more than i actually drove the car... the point is that when buying a nissan maxima.. forget about the looks ur buying a car that will last and u can trust... i just wish the headlight were a lil different other than that it looks good mixture of Lexues Es350 G35 hood, and civic rear!!!

Nice profile, Yaris Rear, Cheesy infiniti wanna be interior, charger aped front end with funky head lights. I was never a fan of the current gen Maxima but I gotta say the front end on that car is atleast bearable"

What a shame just when nissan was getting better with their cars they all got drunk off the champagne at the design studio and we are now left with ugly catastrophes like this and the new murano

What the heck is this? The previous Maxima was somewhat ugly but at least had a nice hunking flank this new model is even uglier, and out of proportion... even looking cartoonish.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but when *I* look at it, only one word comes to mind:
Oops.

Owned a '92, a '97, and a '03. Liked them all, didn't like the current model, but the more I look at this the more I think I'll give it a try. The hood is a direct lift off the G35. Maxima with RWD? They wouldn't do that to the Infiniti fanboys would they? If the design polarizes the populace, at least EVERYONE won't own one.
