Spy Shots: Chevy Camaro SS spotted
Dodge is launching the SRT-8 model of the Challenger first. There's a head-spinning amount of variations on the Mustang GT theme. GM's not going to be left in the dust by the real-life rehashing of the late 1960s. An eagle-eyed member of the Camaro5 forums spotted an unusually dressed Zeta Camaro prototype near the Mesa, AZ proving grounds and managed to snap a cellphone shot of the car. The white mule wearing distinctive matte-black striping reportedly emitted a demonic whistle at idle, perhaps indicating the presence of the LS9 or LSA. A sinister-sounding bestriped Camaro – could it be the SS? We hope. Thanks to everyone who tipped![Source: Camaro5]

Please don't shout.

Wow, over 550 hp if it has the LS9 or LSA engine. I wonder what the cost will be.

@rar
Lookup Mustang Cobra price, there is you cost.

Why do they keep popping up in white?? That is the worst color on it.

1. White is an awesome sports car color. I know that this is going to be one of those 'opinions' people are so very fond of giving, but the cleanliness and pureness of a true white (none of that pearlescent crap) sports car is very hard to match.
2. It's also the cheapest paint color you can buy, making it great for prototypes (I believe red is the most expensive).

I'm going to guess your car is white. Well if they must show it in white they can at least have hugger orange stripes on it.
oldraven 8:30AM (3/20/2008)
Seeing as it's a test mule, getting attention, as you would with hugger orange stripes, is the last thing GM would want. Give them a colour that doesn't stand out, and maybe the car won't either.

Back in the early days, before the car, red was the cheapest color.
That's why barns are red.

like it or not, you got to show respect for the General at bringing to market (hopefully eventually) a TRUE "SS"

Does it make up for the last 20 years or so of "ss" models though?

the previous gen camaro ss was bad to the bone
sure the fwd sedans were a bit of a joke but when it comes to the SS badge, the camaro can deff hold its head high

Respect? What for? SVT has been doing exactly this since 1993, bringing out high quality niche performance vehicles, most with handbuilt engines. Its a been a model for the industry. SRT has been in the game for almost as long.

Woo... It has vinyl... That makes it look so great... /sarcasm

true, 20 years of pseudo SS's have kind of damped the cache but i'm going to try and be optimistic.

What about this car says SS? The wheels are the same, the hood bulge is the same. OK so someone put some vinyl on the car. Also seeing as not many people have heard the original Camaro exactly what do we have to compare it to? I am sure a SS Camaro will be built but without any visual changes (besides the vinyl) this car is yet another Camaro prototype.
On a side note, we went to the movies the other day and parked next to a AWD CTS with manufacturer plates and a custom exhaust. Does anyone know if the AWD CTS is out yet?

Maybe it's an RS?
Has there been any word on whether the Z/28 is making a comeback?
