Click above for full high-res gallery of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis CoupeIt would've been cooler had the world met the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe on Wednesday when it's scheduled to be unveiled at the 2008
New York Auto Show. That's not how things are playing out unfortunately, what with the first batch of official pics showing up on the interweb over the weekend, and the rest appearing today (we found them on MotorTrend.com, but they surely exist elsewhere). So instead of a big surprise on Hump Day, you'll get live shots and lots of details on powertrains, the suspension, options, etc. But for now, here are the rest of Hyundai's official pics for the 2009 Genesis Coupe, including images of the car in red, more action shots and views of the interior.

I'm just not liking the lines on this at all. The front seems awkward. Like the grille is too small or something. And it bothers me how the two lines pass each other on the door. Feels like it should have been one line or none.
Just feels to me like there are too many design quirks to make it a nice looking car.
Christopher Henderson @ Mar 17th 2008 9:25AM
I actually like the lines, mostly because they are something new. They solve the problem of blind spots in the back. Too many cars have a waistline that keeps rising as it goes back, so that you can't see out the rear. This car splits the line in two making the back windows bigger. It's akward but functional. It might be a new trend. At least it looks better than that sagging lower door crease on the BMW 1 series.

i understand what your saying, but i do like the overall appearance, esp. the rear. and the interior beats the snot out of any stang, camaro ect. i do also prefer the silver, hate the red....would like to see a black.
however it is attractive enough, that if they can keep it at Hyundai $ and its able to do what they say, this should sell well.
Allan @ Mar 17th 2008 9:36AM
Ya, I agree on the rear. Not bad at all. And it may be the red making it worse, but I still see the lines on the silver - though it does look better in that color.
I would like to see it do well though - if anything just so other companies try to get in on the RWD idea. Though I still have a tiny glimmer of hope that Scion's concept may actually be a new AE86.

WOW. That interior is very very very nice. Its simple and looks well put together.

Those seats look awesome. I just hope they're as comfortable and supportive as they look.

I can't help but think that the rear looks just like an Infiniti G35/37. The grille on the front needs to be a bit larger too. Still, I think Hyundai could have a winner on their hands with this one if the price is right.
Tioch @ Mar 17th 2008 9:49AM
The Hyundai coupe has always been a bit of an odd child on looks. The first couple generations went from different to down-right weird and then back to bearable. All in all, I can imagine this one will turn out to be a charmer though. Arguably, of all the Hyundai coupes, this is the best looking one. The rear is pretty classy and if you look closely, you can pick up hints of a Jag XF in the center grill or some similiar lines to an Infiniti G37. Not a big fan of the front bumper, but all in all, I think this will be a pretty good sell for Hyundai. Hyundai has been taking styling cues from a number of other companies for years (remember their faux-Mercedes Benz?), but I think they're spot-on with this one. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of Hyundai, but even I looked at this and said that could be a winner.

this has nothing to do with the Tiburon, totally different car

I know it's a new car. I was speaking about Hyundai coupes as a whole and in general.
Caz @ Mar 17th 2008 9:49AM
wow- that nose sure is ugly! looks like the metal was stretched over the front, pulling back towards the a-pillar! overall a good car but hopefully they'll fix that shnoz in the 2013 redesign!!!
SPG @ Mar 17th 2008 9:50AM
Billet or dense mesh grille.
Yes, when those become available from aftermarket suppliers for these cars they are going to have an ultra smooth.
Not that this car is a dog now by any means.
Keep em coming Hyundai, you continue to impress.
eightyd @ Mar 17th 2008 9:53AM
Wow, I've been a fan of the looks of this car when I first saw the concept, and I must admit that when I saw the less-glitzed-up new front end of it, I was a little disappointed. However, that 3/4 rear end picture is stunning. Absolutely gorgeous. And I am terribly glad that the concept's lines from the front and rear meeting at a parallel on the doors persisted. I also really love how the canopy and rear window glass flow so seamlessly into the trunklid. And how low it looks.
Color me smitten. As a honda lover, this has grabbed my attention. Get them in quick, hyundai!

Very nice. I actually might look at this brand down the road. I want to see some five year data on their recent builds before I jump.
Still beats the pants off the America cars, until you realize the big three all will have big honkin eight cylinder motors to make real muscle cars.
This would have landed squarely on the old Probe and similarly sized and priced cars. That interior is worlds apart from most cars. Perhaps the Altima coupe needs to be worried? Even Honda coupes might be in for a surprise.
Mike @ Mar 17th 2008 9:58AM
Absolutely stunning. This car looks amazing from every angle. I was waiting to see how the interior looked before making my decision, but now that I have, I'm convinced that this car is a winner.
I can't wait to see the unveiling in NY.
David @ Mar 17th 2008 10:09AM
Wow, I love the looks of it. the suspension and Chassis are supposed to be designed after the E46, if so it should be nice. 2 piston brembo FRONT brakes? is that a typo? anyone know anything about the 4 cylinder world engine? I hope its strong and light.
ocog1028 @ Mar 17th 2008 10:16AM
I drive a Chevy Aveo and the tachometer in the Genesis coupe looks very similar to the one in my car .... I don't want to remember driving my Aveo whenever I drive this car in the future. It'll just bring back moments of slow acceleration and spongy handling.
iSpec @ Mar 17th 2008 10:18AM
As someone has knows this brand and the value Hyundai delivers, this vehicle, and the brand as a whole doesn't impress or repulse me because of my compulsion to have every line or angle spot on, but rather it's the realization that every recent owner I have talked to and my own recent experience with a Hyundai vehicle genuinely provides an ownership experience where Hyundai overdelivered and I underpaid for what I shopped my Hyundai against.
This coupe in rwd form will be a winner to everyone who buys it and starting at around $22k for the 2 litre turbo and even 3.8 V6 with 300 ponies will undoubtedly be the bargain of the century that is hidden by a badge that many just won't accept.
As a Veracruz owner and former Pilot owner, I can assure you that Hyundai is over-delivering.
zamafir @ Mar 17th 2008 12:53PM
While I understand where you are coming from, 22k buys me a GTI with 200hp, a wonderful 6MT, practicality and i'd wager my keys, superior handling. So while 22k will be a fair price for this car, it's hardly the bargain of the century when the same amount buys you a car which has won multiple COTY titles, consumer reports best pic, etc etc.
This isn't to detract from Hyundai and perhaps their first really decent car, in terms of styling, power train, and easily lived with interior, it's just the segment has become crowded and there are already fantastic bargains to be found.
stratojet @ Mar 17th 2008 5:59PM
Wow what a statement. Sounds like a commercial. Are you for real?
