a coupe shape is more efficient structural form. if the convertible is as strong as a coupe, it weighs more.

take a convertible and open the doors, all the strength has to be in the floor, there cant be any triangulation or reinforcement, the only way to add material to the frame rails

unless this is just a convertible with a plastic top put on, it has the potential to be much stronger and lighter.
