Whenever we read about the latest celebrity who couldn't manage to get themselves home safe after a long night of partying, we wonder why nobody has thought to create a service to drive their drunk asses home. Seems like common sense, doesn't it? Apparently, Sean Combs, a.k.a. P. Diddy, agrees with us. In an effort to "make sure everyone's partying responsibly," Diddy has decided to launch a car service for celebrities. We feel a little silly even reporting on this, but since celebrities are apparently above the good old taxi ride, perhaps the fact that a famous person is behind the effort will be enough to keep the rest of the non-drunk late-night drivers safe, and that is something worth talking about.

Better then getting a speeding Range Rover through the side of your regular joe mobile.
It's hard to like celebrities some times.
Frylock350 @ Mar 14th 2008 10:50AM
I can't stand the whole concept of celebrities. Especially rap "musicians". They contribute NOTHING musically and the topics of their song-like things glamorize illicit drug use, womanizing, spending beyond one's means, disrespect to the police, etc. And then there's athletes. Oh you can throw a ball through a ring? Well so can this dolphin/dog/seal but we don't idolize them and give them millions. And our nation's teachers are barely paid enough to make a living off of...
k.w.a @ Mar 14th 2008 1:31PM
o yeah because it's not like rock music and other genres EVER talk about drugs, fast cars, fast money, and fast women.
In fact, no "celebrities" in general (besides rap musicians, of course) have become symbols for substance abuse and outrageous spending, right?

@Frylock
The concept of celebrities is simple.
A bunch of people know them for what they do, be it singing, playing, or partying.
We created them, they didn't create themselves.

I love it when people come here to rant on their racist soap box. You tried to clean it up at the end with that teacher comment though, nice touch, didn't work.
Maybe the only sports that should be allowed are golf and hockey, wait, don't they put balls through holes too?
almost Dr. G.. @ Mar 14th 2008 10:44AM
seriously. to a multimillionaire celeb how much impact would a couple hundred bucks make the in bank account to hire a effing limo service?!?!?
oh its simple. most of them barely graduated high school and never even started college. most lack simple common sense.
compy386 @ Mar 14th 2008 10:50AM
I never understood why celebrities don't just hire drivers...
sw @ Mar 14th 2008 10:55AM
It may have something to do with the fact that the general populace for the most part idolizes idiots.
DesiAuto @ Mar 14th 2008 12:33PM
"I can't stand the whole concept of celebrities. "
People hype them.
Current and next gen youngsters are more about outward coolness than anything substantial. Unfortunatly the things they consider cool are actaully making them low life scums and they suffer in life eventually. BTW, kids are that way simply becuase their parents didn't do a good job.
Before having kids, it's very important to know that it's very difficult to raise a child and make them decent law-abiding citizens.
BTW, I don't think this was newsworthy.
geo.stewart @ Mar 14th 2008 11:00AM
I suppose the thoughts of an unknown opportunistic limo driver taking photos of of celebs in less than stellar condition MAY keep some from calling a service but there are lots of holes in this argument.
Of course, being drunk rarely leads to watertight and sensical logic.
Hey, if it keeps a few more drunks off the street, then lots of people are safer and I'm all for it.
John Johnson @ Mar 14th 2008 11:39AM
I think that's the point of this. Any service out there currently runs this risk.
But, have a service set up by celebrities for celebrities and you can almost ensure confidentiality whilst being wasted/doing crack/abusing women.
mk @ Mar 14th 2008 11:23AM
Kudos for any glimpse of responsibility.
So little exists anymore, that this act of benevolence and responsibility is very admirable.
It is good to see that at least someone in the limelight hasn't lost their ability to see what is going on.
Bungle @ Mar 14th 2008 11:26AM
I have yet to see a picture of this guy where his mouth is closed.

ROFL!
probably the funniest comment of the day ...

As much as I hate P. diddy doody daddy or whatever he calls himself these days, if this keeps me from having to suffer through one more story about a celebrity DUI before getting news on things that actually matter (i.e. economy, election, war(s) etc) then even I must admit that this is a fantastic idea
Larry @ Mar 14th 2008 4:18PM
"Poop Doody?"
JIm @ Mar 14th 2008 12:40PM
O'Boy is there ever a joke in there waiting to get out.
kevjohn @ Mar 14th 2008 12:46PM
Darn. This just decreased the chances of Paris Hilton dying in a horrific DUI-induced car wreck. Thanks for nothing, Diddy.
David Gurney @ Mar 14th 2008 1:03PM
A better solution is this one in the uk: http://www.scooterman.co.uk/
basically, you drive to the party/bar/club/whatever, have a drink or two, phone 'scooterman' and a guy arrives on a fold-up motorbike and drives you and your car home.
Luis @ Mar 14th 2008 1:23PM
Don't they already have a service like that? It's called a TAXI...or here's a better idea...DESIGNATED DRIVER.
