Chrysler celebrating 25,000th Viper built

Chrysler is planning a big bash to commemorate the production of the 25,000th Dodge Viper at its Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, MI. The event, due to take place tomorrow, will celebrate the big snake's penchant for simultaneously thrilling and scaring the pants off enthusiasts for over a decade and a half. Number 25,000 will be handed over to Kurt Busch in recognition of his wheel-to-wheel accomplishments while campaigning in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and while we won't be on hand for the festivities, we'll be there in spirit, without the banned articles of clothing outlined in the press release after the jump.

Dude, I'm getting a Viper. Way better sounding than getting a crappy Dell. Congrats to Chrysler and Kurt Busch.
Didn't I hear they are trying to kill off the Viper though after this Gen?

Aren't they axing the Viper though? Kind of strange PR to celebrate a successful vehicle while simultaneously planning on killing it off?

Are you kidding? ''Farewell'' Editions are pretty common. WS6 Trans-Am is one that is fresh in my mind.
''It's as stupid, and as wonderful, as owning a pet elephant''
And I want one :D - 1996 GTS Coupe in Viper Blue, you know, the poster that most of us had on our walls when we were younger.

24,000 built, 2,400 sold. Just a while ago (about 2 years) Dodge had over a 250-300 day supply of Vipers sitting on their factory lots. This car has always been very very fast but very crude with some sketchy quality along with numerous desgin issues like the hot door sills from the exhaust.
I never saw the appeal in the Viper after riding in one 6 years ago. Then again, I dont't the appeal of owning an elephant either.

I'm sure in no time all the Viper haters will be in here posting their negative comments. But to anyone who enjoys the ability to buy a high horsepower car today, you have the Viper to thank for getting the horsepower wars re-ignited back in the early 90s. Remember that GM was putting out Vettes with under 300 hp at the time.

Yes, and the Corvette improved while the Viper languished, basically unchanged into total obscurity.
Why is hate confused with reality?

I have to agree with Tagg, if I was buying an American supercar, the ZR1 or Z06 would be on top of my list
But the Viper is still amazing, like a shot of testosterone
