Snakes on a Neiman Marcus catalog: the Hennessey Venom 700 NM Viper

Click above to enlarge
The Neiman Marcus catalog is always full of superfluous luxury goods like hover crafts or special edition Lexus models. The 2008 Spring Men's catalog is no exception. Its special seasonal offering happens to be a half dozen and one venomous snakes. Even though they are endangered, they are not the kind featured on National Geographic. They are, in fact, seven special 2008 Hennessey Venom 700 NM Vipers. The tuned beasts boast 700 horsepower and 645 pound feet of torque, though despite the increased power output, their 0-60 times are even with the 678-hp 650R Hennessey Venom upgrade for the 2008 Dodge Viper. The discrepancy in performance most likely stems from a traction issue. The lack of grip shouldn't be a problem for any buyer to handle, though, since a day of performance driving school at Lonestar Motorsports Park is included in the purchase price of $179,500. The shopping cart handle rear wing that's tested to 200 mph should also provide rear traction aid via increased downforce. Of course, the price of carrying the initials NM in the title means that each car gets the full interior treatment, as well. Black and red leather trim adorns the inside, along with embroidered floormats for the footsies. There is even a matching set of luggage thrown in to sweeten the deal. Look for these beauties to be snatched up within minutes of their release at 9 AM EST on April 10th.

That is an incredible looking car.

Beautiful car. It's just too bad nobody will ever actually get one. And if somebody does it will largely be made up of donor parts from other customers cars.

Well, that didn't take long at all... did it?

I tried not to waste any time in getting that comment in. :)

As an owner of a 01 Viper, I never cared much for the new style, I prefer the curves of the previous years, but the minor changes they have made, its grown on me a bit.

Hefner > Hennessey.
I would LOVE for someone to do a shoot out between the 2.

Guess you missed that issue of C&D, eh?

Hmm... There was one with the Ford GT from Hefner and the Viper from Hennessey... But I wanna see Viper vs Viper.
Hefner makes some insane machines.

+100hp and +85tq from just an air filter, exhaust, and heads on a naturally-aspirated motor?

They probably limited the production run to seven because that's as many 22B wings as they could get ahold of.

pshh...i wish. That looks absolutely incredible. When viper production stops, that will be a sad sad day in automotive history. Chrysler should just trim back production numbers instead of axing it entirely.

you ever hear of a show called "Viper" ?

Nasty... and I mean that in a good way.

Specs are nice, but the car looks ridiculous. It looks like a 10 year old got to design it. Before all the fan boys of this ass-ugly thing start getting on my case about how everything is "functional," there was a Brabus C-Class posted here the other day with gobs more HP and torque than this thing without ridiculous vents and wings and scoops all over it.

ahhh yes, a 700HP monster of a car being marketed to the 'neiman marcus more money than talent' crowd. be prepared for the 'rich snob crashes and dies in his viper' stories on autoblog in a few months.

I will agree that the convertible model is super ugly but the hardtop model probably looks amazing. I would still much rather have the Venom 1000TT Coupe.

Damn, that is one sexy ass -snake! To bad great american cars like this is dying off. CAFE is ruining that american made muscle as we know it....I hope this new trend of bio-fuels, hydrogen and electric plug-in cars can create the same amount of fun and performance as gas engine cars. Change is good, I just hope we don't have to sacrifice fun and performance.
