I know of people who drive in their minivans right along lake huron which where it's not uncommon to get about 10 cm's of snow in an hour and they seem to make it around fine. People in Alaska seem to swear by their subaru's from what I've read and the amount of sales that subaru makes in that area. Going off roading these vehicles are terrible and the de facto leader off road is still a 2 door Jeep. The Tahoe/Yukon has a solid rear axle, so the rear seats don't fold into the floor. So in a Tahoe/Yukon, if you need more space you have to remove the 80 lb seats and store them in your garage.
