It's my impression that folks are waiting for gas prices to return to $2.XX a gallon, and are therefore not going to embrace more small cars until it really hits them that gas may never go below $2.75 a gallon again...but instead will continue to (slowly?) creep up in price.

Ford and Mazda, but Ford in particular, better be looking at the NEXT gen. Fiesta as a product for the U.S. also if this one doesn't set overnight sales records "out of the box".

BTW, I prefer the Fiesta to the Mazda2, as I don't care for the Mazda's front fender line and the instrument panel (especially the speedometer) is a bit over-detailed for my taste. And it MUST be a 3 door (and 5 door, leave the sedan to Mazda).

stang_fan

Comments on

I'm with you, bring all three and bring it to both Ford Mazda. However if they do, it'll be likely that the two hatches will go to Mazda and the trunk will be on the Ford floor.

I want the Mazda2 5-door! Mazda's tend to have a tighter, sportier drive to them. I LOVE the look of the hatchbacks far more than the sedan. The little lady wants back doors to facilitate babyseats. The 5-door makes us both happy.

ohh... dear FoMoCo, if you could put in a diesel or a direct injection 4, that would be fun. thanks.

Alex
