That's because teens still have hopes and dreams then after your parents stick you with the 300k mile 82-84 Civic all you can hope for is a slightly newer one and all your hopes and dreams have been crushed and there is no life left in you.

ahh, 'getting stuck with a Civic'
must be nice.
My first car was a 1971 Mustang Fastback with a 302, Cragar SSTs, Eagle STs (GTs didnt have the traction) and dual glasspacks.
That I paid for with my own money, along with paying for my insurance with my own money. not that I had a choice :-) but was proud of doing it myself.
Want a bitchin car? Earn your money. Save your money. take your money and pay for your opinion. Otherwise, remember that in nature SPONGES DONT HAVE A VOICE!!!!!

and just to be clear, the car was 15 yrs old and 'my own money' came from mowing yards and bussing tables, not family gifts so I can get a new Vette.

Mustang and civic??? really??? God damn the next generation is boring!
You know, i'm 25, and if i was given $30k to spend on a car, i would probably go buy an old Evo or an old NSX. Maybe not as SMART as buying a civic or camry...but you only live once...

That's funny. When i was 25 i bought a '98 Jaguar XJR. It was the smartest decision i ever made... for about three months. I couldn't afford to drive it but i couldn't bear to part with it either. Now i drive a '92 Maxima and the Jag sits in a rented garage uninspected, uninsured and no longer registered. One day she'll back on the road. One day.
My next car? I'm hoping the Maxima will run me until the Mazda2 makes its NA debut. Yeah, i've gone pratical.

sad to say, they havent changed. those werent the golden years. my insurance alone was more than it was for both my parents and their cars. and after my first wreck, it doubled and I paid that.
