Mercedes use to define elegance and great styling. However now it's like they have taken the "Mercedes" from these cars and totally redesigned them without that Merceds aspect we grew accustomed to.

Just compare these cars to the S/E/SL class models back in 2001/2002 and you'll see that Mercedes has lost it's touch by a mile. All these new Mercedes seem to be getting uglier.

I'll still purchase the 03 S/SL class over any of these things. Now those were REAL Mercedes cars. Mercedes is swaying to far from it's core design. I know that, for some reason, automakers think this whole ANGLES EVERYWHERE approach is just the bees' knees (though don't get me wrong - the CTS is a great looking car), but the current Mercedes SL is a really nice looking car, especially when it gets some of those AMG touches.

I wouldn't venture as far to say it's ruined, but really, it doesn't have the same effect on me the last one did (the desire to get rich so I could buy one, of course).
That might all change though the first time I see one with "V12 BiTurbo" badges go cruising by...

Brendan

Comments on Geneva '08 Preview: Mercedes to debut five new models

It seems like Lexus and Mercedes designers traded places.

RLQ

Comments on Geneva '08 Preview: Mercedes to debut five new models

Does anyone know FOR SURE whether the SLK350 (mind the engine) will be offered with a 6-speed manual in the U.S. once again after a 1-year (MY08) hiatus?

Razor1973

Comments on Geneva '08 Preview: Mercedes to debut five new models

Is MB intentionally keeping the SLK350 down (relative to the SL350 311hp vs 300hp) to keep and artificial gap between it, and the SLK55 AMG?

Will the M-class get this high output V6?
