why not the LS2LS7? @ Feb 27th 2008 1:28AM
The Prius is rated at something like 75mpg (US gal) in Japan, it's rated at 55mpg (US gal) in the UK and at 48mpg in the US (US gal).
How again are you saying US ratings are unrealistically high compared to European ones?
nagmashot, I think you are incorrect in your assertions.

no I am not... not a year ago companys like Honda were forced to change their completely unrealistic US consuption ratings to more realistic numbers..
There was a report about it here at autoblog..
The Prius is rated in Germany at 47mpg or 5.0l/100km and notriously fail to reach that claims... like the Honda Civic Hybrid, both cars are voted as the most unrealistic consuption claims of all cars sold in Germany.
In a 1000km drive across Germany the tester reached disapointing 7.9l/100km = 29.7mpg ..
For example the Golf GT with the same 2.0l TDI engine as this Audi TT TDI quttro the same weight but worse aeordynamic is rated with 5.9l/100km = 40mpg.. it reached in German car magazine fuel tests, including 20% full throttle maximum speed (138mph for the Golf GT TDI) Autobahn drive, a average of 6.8l/100km = 35mpg. Rolling at 55 to 70mph on highway the Golf GT easy reach the claimed 40mpg.
Without the full throttle runs the consuption would be pretty close to EU Norm..
