The Aston Martin V8 Vantage continues to build on its advantages -- exclusivity, hand-stitching, and that winged badge -- to make it a full-bodied competitor to that other marque from Stuttgart. According to Car magazine, the Vantage will get some engineering tweaks and its engine capacity will grow by almost half a liter, to 4733-cc. A year ago Aston merely fiddled with the ECU on the N400 and found 20 extra horses. We hope an even more plump double digit number comes with this kind of growth in displacement. The cabin is also expected to receive a polish, with things like the Ford key -- and perhaps the Volvo switches -- being kicked out of the old boy club. A face-lifted range of DB9s is also expected. All of these changes leads us to our one request for Aston, please be careful with what is already perfection. We've selected the most choice high-res images of the V8 Vantage from Aston Martin's media website and assembled them in a gallery below. Enjoy and don't drool on your keyboard.

I think I just found the car I want to drive on our Wedding night.

Make mine Merlot Red with the Prodrive package.
Mmmmm.

Forget expanding the V8 a little, give us the extra power in the form of an extra 4 cylinders! Come on Aston, give us the Vantage RS
Lance @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:58PM
They will struggle with the V12 Vantage because of the extra weight. The weight distribution will completely through off the balance and handling. Just 'cos the V12 twelve would fit, doesn't mean it will work. The "new" Vantage will have 420hp, which is what it shouild have been in the 2006 model. That is only a 100 less than the DBS at half the price.
ALEXDB9 @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:13PM
Eh, I will just wait until the V8V-RS comes out.
FSM @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:41PM
eh...I'll wait for the 1.5 liter four cylinder version with cloth seats and am/fm radio. This one looks like a Camry.
DIRETTORE @ Feb 22nd 2008 8:11PM
* Exactly. All this time the Jag R has had 420HP & the AM V8 380 sufering a 40HP inferiority complex yet substantially more Xpensive!!! WTF?
I spoke with an owner & asked him how he liked his car? He said nice, but the seats were torture!
I thought your kidding right? (He was a young guy too!)
How can you justify that kind of $ & have uncomfortable seats?
NO EXCUSE!!!

This car is still at the top of my current production car dream-buy list.
an update? Sounds great to me.
I'll take mine with custom Ecurie Ecosse blue, with titanium white details, and dove grey and black two tone interior. Prodrive suspension and forged mesh-style wheels, aftermarket exhaust, and a computer tune to go with it.
And a tinted glass roof panel, if I can have yet another wish.
mk @ Feb 22nd 2008 5:40PM
I hope as part of the update, they leave off the little button fender signal, and incorporate a clear, amber-blinking LED Light-pipe element in the fender vent strake, like the Rapide concept had.

Oh and please get rid of that moronic, "Power, Beauty, Soul" statement when starting the car up. I cannot bear to look at it any longer, wonder if my dealer can turn it off.
This was no doubt thought up by same marketing moron in Dearborn who also thought that gillete mach 3 grill, and naming all Fords NA with an F are all brilliant ideas!
Yes I understand they wanted to make driving an Aston an event, and it is! They do a perfectly good job of conveying that message with the styling, handling, and that amazing exhaust sound all on their own! How obnoxious can Ford be? The world may never know.
Stop letting marketing people run car companies!

Dude, I love the "power, beauty, soul" when I turn on my car. Its the ECU!! I mean in all seriousness its there for seconds, its one of the many things that makes Aston my favorite over anything.
porschedevotee @ Feb 22nd 2008 11:34PM
I believe that's the first time I've ever seen an Aston Martin driver begin a sentence with the word "dude".
Mobius_1 @ Feb 22nd 2008 8:45PM
One of the best cars just got even better, wow
Noidor @ Feb 22nd 2008 11:03PM
ECU? Emotional Control Unit? You mean the government? lol Thanks Clarkson!
ALEXDB9 @ Feb 22nd 2008 11:55PM
C'mon man, I am not some old guy. I am 20.
