Cadillac has a winner on its hands with the new CTS. We've driven it, we like it and offering a coupe version for people that don't need to lug an extra couple of passengers around is a no-brainer. GM is hoping that the new CTS will bring sales of the sedan back to the levels set in 2005 and adding another model into the CTS fold will help seal the deal.
Dealers were shown the CTS coupe concept during the NADA conference and, according to reports from Automotive News, they were foaming at the mouth to get some of that two-door hotness into showrooms. Although there was no confirmation that it would be built, judging by the reception it's gotten from both dealers, the press and consumers alike, we know it's just a matter of time.

Drool. Keep up the good work GM.

I sincerely hope the rear end looks better on the final piece... it's a bit too tall and fat in the rear IMO... more hatch than coupe. Other than that, impressive.
celeritas @ Feb 20th 2008 7:03PM
I agree. The C pillar and the entire rear of the car needs some work. The proportions of the car just isn't right but I'm hoping thats just the usual concept car exaggeration and flair.

Has Fat and Ugly come into Style?

I consider myself one of the many consumers excited about this car
finally, an american coupe to compete with cars like the audi a5, bmw 3-series, MB CLK, and Infiniti G37

According to an Edmunds InsideLine article posted 1/18/08 they will start rolling off the assembly line in June of '09.

Gorgeous, the CTS line all are. The back does seem a bit high, but I wonder if in person it gives it a sloping forward, aggressive look.....
obie @ Feb 20th 2008 11:45PM
This car is truly incredible in person--the backside doesn't look nearly as big, and the rear lamps just look awesome.

Hopefully GM uses as much aluminium as financially possibly; it'd be too bad if this was a 2 ton 2 door. The G-coupe is a fatty, don't copy that.
Punkcrisis @ Feb 20th 2008 7:07PM
I love this coupe! It is possibly the best looking car ever!
stopthebombs @ Feb 20th 2008 7:11PM
They ALMOST got it right. That back end really kills it for me, though. Looks like a hatchback (which invokes images of the C class hatchback - yuck).

"just a matter of time."
Hopefully it won't be on a Camaro timeline. Otherwise, it will be available some time around 2015. But at least we'll have a steady stream of PC wallpapers along the way.
And I'm sorry, but I think the whole car looks too tall and pudgy. Especially the hood. Almost looks like a 2 door SUV. Drop that hood height an inch, and I think you have a winner.
btw, I happen to like the new CTS looks, though it is a bit chunky too.

Caddy needs to build on the enthusiasm for this coupe by offering a retractable hardtop version
Mason Hill @ Feb 20th 2008 7:36PM
I saw it in person in Chicago and it is a stunner. I also talked to an employee from the CTS plant and he said they WILL be building it. Nice job Caddy!
JMC 3 @ Feb 20th 2008 7:43PM
Mason Hill...Do You mean you've seen a retractable hardtop version?
dausman @ Feb 21st 2008 10:42AM
Amen !!!
JunkStory @ Feb 20th 2008 7:21PM
Man oh man. That is beautiful. I could really see myself in one of these if the price is right.
Mal Fuller @ Feb 20th 2008 8:03PM
How much does it take to excite a Cadillac Dealer?
Not much really but the CTS Coupe is a winner.
kunal_ebas @ Feb 20th 2008 8:26PM
not to be homophobic but this is the 'gayest' POS I have ever seen. Its like someone went crazy with a ruler and a pencil. A confluence of straight lines. I mean look at the 4 door and how drop dead gorgeous it is. This again shows that americans always try to 'over - everything' things and make a royal mess.
