Ugur Sahin Design dreams up Corvette Z03 Concept
The last time Ugur Sahin Design came up on our radar, it was for a beautiful modern Ferrari Dino rendering that had us hoping for a production version. Sahin has a come up with a new concept, this time based on a Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Unlike the Dino, Sahin is hoping to actually build this car with a production run of 100, Dubbed the Z03, this concept features full carbon fiber bodywork and design cues from the C3 Corvette and a Ferrari 599 GTB. Performance will be a focus as well, with 100 pounds shaved off the car's overall weight, and three engine packages available from 500 to 750 horsepower. Further details will be available in March, and the delivery of a production car is optimistically set for the end of 2008.

why not the LS2/LS7? 8:21PM (2/19/2008)
Sexy, although the nose will probably appear pretty droppy in real life. Probably impossible to build without getting sued.

You say that like it's a bad thing to have more cars around like look like the Alfa 8C...
Richard 8:19AM (2/20/2008)
Yeah!
This is 8C meets Elise meets mid-70's Renault Alpine.
Totally derrivitive!

pretty, but it looks just like their Dino concept...

This is one of the only Vette reskins that might actually look better than the original. I say might, because the nose is hard to see and I wonder about the shape of the lower intakes, those smallish headlights, and how the snub nose which is visible from side view, will look in reality. That, and the rear end looks too much like the (less attractive) Italdesign Moray:

Despite this, the overall design is clean without being boring and has the perfect balance of edgy tension and flowing curves. The flying buttress B/C-pillars are a nice throwback to Corvettes of yore while adding strong character to this modern design. The hood window is also much better executed than that of the ZR1 and provides some nice detail to the otherwise unbespoke surfacing. Great job Ugur Sahin!

Last time he was mentioned it also said he was studying hotel management. Does this mean he's changed his career track now?

He should figure a way to shave 500-800# off. That would really be special. It's gorgeous. Stuff the Vette boys have done that mgmt. won't allow into production. Too radical. Too furrin.

I love it! The proportions may be very similar to the Dino rendering, but the detailing is all Stingray (the nose and flying buttresses) and Sting Ray (the taillights and vestigial roof crease).
I personally find this even more drool-worthy as a study for a future mid-engined, lightweight 'Vette with a HO direct-injection V6. In Europe, Corvette is its own brand... why not introduce a $40K entry-level model, call it the Stingray? Just dreaming...
I certainly hope that this project, unlike the Dino, pans out. Beautiful styling work.

Handsome design. Looks pretty much like an Italian-American Corvette.

Absolutely beautiful. I'm not a corvette guy but that's one of the prettiest cars I've seen in a while.
