RDX RaceDesign uglifies the Audi A3
While we like to cover what's going on in the German tuning scene, the haus of RDX proves that we shouldn't stray far from the Lorinzers, Schnitzers, Brabus' and Hartges of the world.
What makes this Audi A3 truly horrible isn't the lime green paint, the misaligned chrome-lipped rollers or even the Lambo-style doors that aren't included in the price of the $895 body kit. No, the biggest problem with the RDX A3 is the fact that nothing – not one damn thing – has been done under the hood. If we had to search our souls for a singular redeeming quality, it's the fact that RDX fitted LEDs from the S6 into the front fascia. Otherwise... fail.
If you must, RDX's press release is after the jump and you can check the gallery below for another acid-reflux inducing image.

I was gonna rant about how dumb this looks and how it's retarded to do nothing under the hood, but the press release is for the body kit: bumper and sills, which actually look pretty good if you can ignore the green paint, and for 615 Euros, that's not bad.
yay for insanely long sentences.

Reminds me of this pic about Lambo-style doors

What's with the obsession with these horribly ugly doors?

thats funny, because it means that if you soup up a VW Golf, you get an Audi A3, but apparently, if you soup up an Audi A3, you end up with a Golf!

ya know, this is one vehicle I visually prefer as a 5-door instead of a 3-door.
doesnt hurt that it is more functional that way also.

What about ABT? Aren't we forgetting their history with Audi? Anyway, here's ABT's version of A3:

That's a general problem of the "tuning" scene here in Germany... all show, no go. Little actual performance.
Cars like the one posted are the norm, not the exception, since a lot of people don't have clue about the original meaning of the word "tuning".

I have to disagree with you...
1. this company is no name in the scene and does not represent german tuning style
2. this "Kindergarten I have no money 2f2f style tuning" holds less than 10% of the tuning market volume in Germany.
3. all show no go only counts for momy shopping car tuning don by 18yo with no money in the pocket..

Gosh, and I thought it didn't get much worse than Hamann.

I actually like the color (green is my favorite color), but I think the rest of this job is pretty tacky. The wheels don't work. The Lambo doors are silly, and it ended up looking like a less-elegant vehicle in the process.

Who cares if people want to make their cars look a bit different? It's not like having a super powerful engine is that useful on the public road, and it's all just for showing off anyways. People putting fancy bits on their cars is like choosing clothes to wear to look better, rather than working out. If someone wants to express their individuality and personality by putting special lights on their car, that's cool by me.

It's fine other than the doors and that damn text slapped on the windshield. I think having logos on the windshield rivals 3 foot tall spoilers for tackiness.

These tuners are good but to be the best you must use a much larger "show stopping" wing and evolve beyond filling the wheel well to, wait for it, spilling out of the well at least 3-4". That look is further complemented by mismatching the rim width to tire aspect ratio. Finally RDX missed a golden opportunity to ring the entire car with LEDs. Follow my lead and you're guaranteed a WTF response everywhere you go.

Isn't that the old-shape A3 made to look like the new one?
