Hopefully, features like this and the new ones coming on the 2009 F-150 will help sales.

Without a seriously competitive engine, things like this are absolutely necessary. I know everyone says that 0-60 times and horsepower don't define a great truck, but truck buyers are typically guys who happen to love power and big engines. I'm a Ford guy so I really hope they can gain success.

Greg

Comments on Chicago 2008: Ford introduces Work Solutions in-dash computer package for F-150 [w/VIDEO]

While being thoroughly impressed, I can't help but wonder why we've never seen anything this robust before..

Dustin

Comments on Chicago 2008: Ford introduces Work Solutions in-dash computer package for F-150 [w/VIDEO]

Love this feature but I'm surprised Ford didn't simply add a ethernet connection hidden somewhere under the dash so person could plug in there laptop and use its keyboard and much larger screen(a 6.5 inch screen is too tiny for real use I find) to connect to the internet and take advantage of the Sprint EVDO feature. It's costly to change something as simple as a wire on a vehicle. Deals are made for supply to keep prices low so the third party folks (suppliers) kinda drive the cost up by saying "we'll give you the price of ten bucks on this harness if you buy them for 5 years".

2. The bigger reason I believe is that these types of options have been either dealer install or after-market installs.

So I think Ford is finally saying what I've been hoping someone would say for a decade or two! And that is "screw the after market companies, let's do this now".

I like that Ford doesn't screw customers on their NAV systems too! They're really doing a great job!

Randy

Randy

Comments on Chicago 2008: Ford introduces Work Solutions in-dash computer package for F-150 [w/VIDEO]

Powered by Windows CE, so now your truck will BSOD, get viruses, and be as unreliable as your PC at home.

No thanks, I'd skip it until they put a reliable OS in there, not $hit from Microsoft.

ItGuy

Comments on Chicago 2008: Ford introduces Work Solutions in-dash computer package for F-150 [w/VIDEO]

Took a while for the Open Source trolls to wake up.
