Pics Aplenty: Abt Audi R8

Last night, we showed you updated photos of Audi's A4 and A5 as reworked by Germany's Abt Sportsline. Tonight, we have a similar set of new shots from the same tuner, only this time the subject is the Audi R8, a car that doesn't need a whole lot of work to begin with. Abt leaves the engine alone, instead supplying a sport suspension, a brake upgrade, and new 20" wheels.
On the visual side, the car gets carbon fiber skirts and rear spoiler, along with replacement front and rear clips that tone down the oversized factory grillework on both ends. The front openings are now angled and feature colored CF inserts. Matching colored pieces are added to the sideblades and the rear end, too. The new rear bumper cover incorporates a diffuser-style bottom, smaller vents, and diagonal outlets for the exhaust tips. Pretty good stuff, if you ask us, and if the colored elements don't float your boat, you can probably go for a more standard look. Assuming you have an R8 for them to work on, that is. QFT. that V12 TDI is ridiculously awesome, the shot with the engine on the stand is currently my wallpaper, as a matter of fact.

Since BMW came up with their "angel eyes", everyone has to have their own look. Some ain't bad - Audi's sucks. I remember spanish people driving around with 'dingle-berries' hanging from the headliner. Looks like Audi put lights on 'em and put 'em up front. LOL

Why should we assume that the tuner's modifications improve the car? It's not possible that they've done the years of testing and development work that Audi has done. Given that, isn't it just as likely the mods make the car different without making it better and who knows, perhaps make it worse?

Remarkably impressive. Going to go as far to say it's the best looking car I've ever seen. The two tone scheme/accents are marvelous, and the use of carbon fiber is both tasteful and aggressive. Love it.

Looks like a vampire in car form! I do think it seems a little extreme on the R8...its smooth curves are overshadowed by the evil-looking color scheme. I like the red/black mix (always wanted to see a red R8 with black sideblades), but maybe this scheme would look more fitting on a beast like the V12.
That could be pretty ridiculous.

WHY SOMEONE WOULD DO THIS WITH SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CAR?
I ALREADY HAVE SEEN SOME VISUAL UPGRADES FOR THE R8 MADE BY EUROTUNNERS BUT THIS ONE ITS THE UGLIYEST BY FAR!
JUST TAKE A ORIGINAL RED ONE WITH BLACK BLADES,AND THE WOW FACTOR IS 1OOO TIMES BETTER THEN THAT!!
