Father and child survive Ferrari crash
It may be difficult to tell from the pictures, but this used to be a Ferrari F430 Spider. That was until its driver, baby on board, managed to total the car on the A58 highway in Holland.
Miraculously, both the driver and his child were spared their lives, despite bring thrown outside the car during the accident. We hope that when he goes to replace the Ferrari, this guy gets something a little more manageable with a back bench where he can properly strap down a child seat. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, perhaps?

Wow, it's a miracle anyone survived. Given what's left of the car, it's probably the fact that they were thrown from the car that saved them.
Who in their right mind would drive an F40 with a "baby on board"?

(Think it was an F430.)
Not sure I agree with this logic.. is a Ferrari inherently more dangerous than other cars? Looks like a fast crash but it could have occured within the speed limits for all we know.

I'm glad they both made it out alive. That crash looks brutal.

That crash was bad enough. In fact, he ran Gimondo, a PSP competitor, and he came out of prison this week, serving only 1 of his 3 years sentence.
Anyway, amazing that they were not killed. A very careless father if you ask me.

The backseat is the safest place for any child, especially an infant. In that sense a Ferrari is more inherently dangerous than some cars with a back seat.

They were thrown? Were they even _wearing_ thier seatbelts?
Geeze...
Some responsible parent. I'm assuming no child seat (how young was the child?) given that this is a two-seater.
On a lighter note: anyone know if the 612 Scag has LATCH anchors?

Is it just me or do Ferrari's generally disintigrate when they crash. I've *never* seen one look whole after even a relatively minor accident.

That's what happens when your car is build using carbon fiber (it shatters instead of bends like steel) and emphasis is placed on sport, not safety.

Any vehicle sold in the US that has no rear seat, is required to have LATCH in the front passenger seat. I have had to put my son in the front of a Viper (with the airbag turned off of course).

The reason why you don't see a Ferrari car in a minor fender bender is that they're always being driven like they're on the run from the cops.
Dense city traffic, and even in first gear(and neutral) an F430 driver is revving that engine to the Moon, so the sound echoes off the walls of buildings.
It turns heads. :)

The cars are built to disintegrate. The energy of the impact dissipates as it's absorbed and shed by the various crumple zones in the car. Ferrari's are built more like F1/indy cars and are likely safer (from a crash/impact stand-point) than most of the other cars on the road.
Regardless, they're both lucky to be alive with the car looking the way it does.

The 430 is mostly *aluminum* though, not C.F.

It doesn't look like a "nice" day to take your baby for a ride in ur new (uhhh slightly used) Ferrari. Too much money; not enought sense...

I know Ferraris sound badass, but if he was using the car to put the kid to sleep, it's the wrong choice.

I think the best thing this man can do is buy another one.
Ferrari have proved to be extremely SAFE cars.
In almost every news you read about Ferrari crashes, the driver and passenger survived, even at very high speeds (120-160 mph).
Now look what happens when a Porsche has a crash at such a speed.
No one survives.
It's not miracles, it's the way you build cars that saves lifes.
